We had an incredible experience with the full team at Hometown Decking. From start to finish they were one of the best (of not the best) contractor experiences we’ve had. Great communication, professionalism, promptness, and the quality of their work speaks for itself. We got quotes from 5 total companies and Hometown Decking provided the most comprehensive and consultative experience. They were not the cheapest option but the slight increase in cost compared to the others was well worth it in our experience. We never had to chase them down and ask for details, we never worried about the quality of the job, and they completed the job just as they laid out for us. They far exceeded our expectations and would highly recommend them. If you’re on the fence, give them a shot, you won’t be disappointed.

I highly recommend Hometown Decking. Our deck is amazing! Jay did a great job managing the project. He accurately bid out, designed, scheduled and ordered all the materials. Their expert craftsmen constructed our large multi-level deck on a steep slope. This was not an easy project. Raunel and his crew were the best! Raunel can build anything and easily handled any minor changes we made. It's not just a job for these guys. They do excellent work and really care about the quality of the finished product. After watching the process, I realize how important it is to hire an experienced deck builder. All of the framing work was excellent. The footings, support posts, beams, joists, ledger boards and framing hardware exceeded my expectations. Passing all inspections was a breeze. They don't cut corners and built us a strong deck that will last. They also have many choices for the look of the deck. We went with TimberTech composite decking using hidden fasteners, horizontal steel railings with cedar posts, and cedar skirting. We love the look! The price was very reasonable, and an absolute bargain considering the quality of work and materials. You can't go wrong with Hometown Decking!

Hometown Decking did a great job in installing a deck in our backyard. The start to finish of the job was quick, professional and painless. This is the second house that Hometown has helped us add more usable space in our backyard and they have been great both times.

Hometown decking Mike and his team transformed my backyard from a place I rarely occupied into an outdoor oasis that I use more than my own living room. I never imagined all the options I’d be given concerning the shape of my patio, texture, stain, and pergola. We contracted with Hometown Decking as part of a house renovation and this is my favorite place to be even though my entire house is now transformed. They were very flexible with our requests and we had quite a few requests. My home renovation became a family affair. My mother dealt with vendors and contractors more than I did, so I could be free to focus on my day job. When we found out my brother was flying in from NYC we asked if the lumber could be delivered early as we wanted to utilize my brother’s time to stain the cedar before the pergola was constructed. They were extremely helpful with getting us the wood before schedule. They got to know my mother and that she had an end date to being in Austin and made a special effort to finish both the pergola and the staining of the concrete before she had to leave. Sitting beneath the pergola with her after three months of labor was the best moment of the home renovation process. After 30 days the cola stain was added and only enhanced the beauty of my new patio. However, that night it sprinkled. I didn’t think it would be a problem but the next day I noticed little dots on the stain that wasn’t protected by the pergola. When I reached out to Hometown Decking they were very responsive and came back as soon as the chance of rain had passed. Mike saw the problem and restained and resealed the entire patio. This time they moved all the furniture for me, as my family was gone at this point. The result was breathtaking. The cola color was even richer. It has been rained on many times after that and there has been no effect on the stain. I thank Jay, Angel, Mike, Mary Catharine and everyone else who was involved in this project. I now have a beautiful and comfortable area to entertain many guests or just curl up with a good book and my dog who is so happy I am spending time outside with her.

Everything was smooth from start to finish. We contacted Hometown decking to have a concrete firepit done and a cedar patio cover. They resonded to our request quickly and gave us a fair price for quality work. The work was perefct and fast. we love our fire pit and patio cover

His crew had to return to recut the pergola 2x2’s on the outside to reflect a cleaner straighter cut a few days after completion once we inspected the work. Our patio has dips in some areas causing our patio furniture to lean, in which we reported one week after the patio settled. We called, texted and emailed to finally get a project manager to understand our concerns and to come inspect. We were told the measurements are allowed to be slightly off and that his company goes by Portland cement standards...but we live in Texas. Last part of this project is staining to our cement patio, it is currently at step 1 and is showing bad staining coverage, spottiness and messy work on the sides. Not the art I was expecting. Got in touch with the office as soon as the guy left to inform Mike with pictures to have him return for better staining coverage to darken the border before he comes back to seal! Had to communicate through his office clerk once again no return calls just texts and emails from his office clerk to finally get a passive aggressive return email from Mike at 10 pm. He now doesn’t appreciate the things we say and the communication we’ve delivered to him and his staff. All of our issues were told to Mike and staff within a few days of completion of all steps with unsatisfactory responses, texts and emails and that the work is fine. Mike is not one on customer satisfaction and doesn’t own up to quality of work if you have a complaint. He doesn’t do the work himself, he has a set of crew members for each task. Because we have complaints about our patio staining and it potentially not being the look I was expecting regarding coverage ( not completion) I was told that I “have been rude throughout this entire process and at this point I can either get a refund of 1/2 amount for the staining or have the guy come back and seal my patio”. Mike does not admit to sub par workmanship even if he sees it, he is reluctant on customer complaints and is actually giving me the option to leave my patio staining incomplete after his guy started the process. My project started April 2020 amid Covid easy quote and down payment process. I can say that the complaint regarding the Pergola boards were recut to satisfaction in a timely manner although it wasn’t the same guys who did the work the first time

Highly recommended. Hometown Decking completed a 12'x 23' elevated composite deck/stairs for me in late spring. They visited, made suggestions on material and design, including metal ballistrades and a few other custom features, and quoted a very reasonable price. Work was started on schedule, and was complete in a matter of days. The workers left the site clean. The deck has stood up very well over the last 6 months; we simply couldn't be happier with the quality and price.

Hometown decking was amazing! They poured a concrete patio extension & came back to stain the old and new patio. Great Quality, communication, clean up & friendly staff. They did an amazing job, & Mike had the perfect fix for covering up blemishes that popped up when staining my old concrete. I highly recommend Hometown Decking, which is saying a lot as I am a very picky woman that grew up in a construction family and have high expectations. Thank you Hometown Decking!!!!!

Hometown Decking did a great job on the demo and rebuild of our deck and patio cover. The Owner, Manager and Foreman all worked with us making recommendations and changes along the way. We are very pleased with the end result.

We were just looking for a simple deck design with composite materials. Hometown Decking knocked it out of the park! Mike gave us a fair quote for what we wanted. After consultation with us about what our options were, he put us on their schedule. It did not take long before he and his crew were out ready to get to work. I watched as the crew used lasers to set the perfect height to our deck. The previous deck was too high and had caused some of our siding and frame to become water damaged. Now we have a beautiful composite deck that will last many years with minimal maintenance. I can't recommend Mike and Hometown Decking highly enough!

Hometown Decking just tore down our old deck and rebuilt a new deck 14 x 30 with a pergola. We could not be happier! The crew was punctual and polite. While the requirements that I had were quoted, additional designs were presented which captured my wive's attention. Enclosing the porch with screen as opposed to installing lever shutters was an outstanding idea. This made the porch more enjoyable through the winter, spring, summer and fall. As the project progressed, I was able to work from home during a majority of the work. This enabled me to make some modifications which were carried out . The finished product along with the clean up activity met and exceeded our expectations. The ultimate test was during the High School graduation party for my son. The deck was a huge success by extending our living space. If I have any other remodeling work, I will definitely call Hometown Decking and Concrete.

I could not be happier with Hometown Decking, our new deck is fantastic! We ultimately went with Mike because gave us the best designing advice and had the best price for a composite deck. We were on the calendar within a week of accepting the quote. Construction was finished within 2 days! Great company, easy to work with, and they do an thorough job!

I can't even begin to express how pleased we are with the end result. Mike's response in the estimate phase was prompt, and he answered all questions within hours. In scheduling the job, he managed to start the project very close to our original prediction in spite of miserable conditions before and during the job. The crew worked in extremely cold, windy conditions and completed the entire job in three days. They were professional in every respect and left our yard in pristine condition. The project cost came in well under the competitors. We would hire them again in a heartbeat.

Good job and competitive price. Repaired a board tightened up everything for free afterward. Took a little longer than expected, but they (and every other company) were very busy, Would gladly hire them again.

Beautiful new deck that went up in record time. Mike Koch, owner of Hometown Decking and his lead carpenter worked with me to redesign the planned deck when I discovered it would be much lower (and closer to the ground) than I wanted. We discussed a number of options and finally came up with something that met all my needs. The work was great and the crew listened to my concerns along the way and addressed them real time. It was a great experience and I will certainly recommend Hometown Decking to my friends, neighbors and clients (I'm a Realtor).

The entire process was excellent. Michael provided input to our design which swayed us away from other contractors and lead us to pick Hometown Decking. The workers at Hometown Decking were considerate to noise restrictions in the neighborhood,and did not interfere with our home life. The workmanship exceeded our expectations. The Supervisors and workers were courtesy in answering our questions while also taking input regarding design changes. Although we are holding off on the work for a bit to save a little more, based on my interaction with Michael in the initial stages of the process, I would recommend he and Hometown Decking to anyone. Mike called me back right away after I emailed and asked for a bid. He came over on time, looked at things then made some sensible recommendations. I wasn't sure what surface to use as it gets a tough western exposure (sun all afternoon!). The old pressure treated pine was warped, cracked and buckling. After discussing the pro's and cons of different surfaces we settled on cedar with metal railing. Even though we had a rainy spring he started on schedule. A crew of 3 guys tore off the old decking and railing then replaced the support posts under the deck (beams and joists were ok). This took a couple days. Neat and cleaned up after themselves. Then they put up the decking, trim, stairs and railings. Another few days.. We had a little rain delay but nothing significant. You could tell that they were experienced and used to working together. I really liked when one guy was having a little trouble the other guys would go and help then go back to what they were doing. They seemed to naturally know what to do next and stayed pretty focused and on the job. When I would go out back (usually to bring them water or sodas) the head guy, Raunel, would take time to explain what they were doing and how far along they were. Heck of a nice guy. (Others guys were very nice as well). The workmanship was superb, very good attention to detail. All the corners were tight and they used a system that put deck screws in from the side for a no-screw surface, looks very nice. Some very nice extra touches as well, all the railing edges were routered to smooth them out (they put a wood cap on the top of the metal railing). Plus the ends of the hand rails were chamfered for very nice look, plus also smoothed out the edges. I forgot to mention that some accent lighting was installed. Mikes idea. Great idea, looks fantastic in the evening. Its nice to have our deck back as the old one was cracked and buckled. It is so attractive, looks like a deck at a resort! I'm very happy with the job Hometown decking did.
