"They called within a few minutes of posting my request online,, and they were out to my house in a few hours. They were able to replace a leaky handle on a bathrom sink even though they had to go across town to find the right part. They also pumped out sludge from my disposal in the kitchen sink and now there is no backup when I run it. They were polite and knowledgeable, and cleaned up after their work. I would definitely hire"

"They did a good job on our home, and when we sent them to the rental hm, they told the tenants ,after checking that water heater, that if they flushed that water heater, because of the age of the water heater, there might be a hole in it that would become obvious when all the sediment was drained out ,there might be leak and that it might be best to leave it be. We may have to check into buying a new one."

"CP was friendly and knowledgeable. After telling him what issues I had, he diagnosed the problem and located the clog. He quoted additional work for me to do in the near future due to a nearby tree root system damaging the line. He also replaced an intake water valve on a toilet that was leaking. I'll hire this company again to complete the repairs."

"I have used this company twice and both times the service as great. The owner came out on the first call and me provided me excellent service. He explained what the issue was; called for the parts and gave me the quote and scheduled to come back the next day after getting the parts. While he was at the house I mentioned another issue that I had for awhile which no one could tell me the problem. He wanted to check it out. He thought he knew what the issue was and when he came back the next day solved that problem also. YAY!! He also gave me a tip that my drain assemblies were under warranty. I ordered them and that was the second service to install them. I would highly recommend this company."

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Bleach is generally not recommended for your shower drains. Although diluted bleach can technically help clean your drain, it will not unclog your pipes. In fact, bleach can harm your plumbing system because it’s so powerful. The bleach can change the color of your sink and even corrode metal pipes and fittings.

Often, people reach for bleach because it's already in their house. But it's worth getting a plunger or a drain snake for the job instead. It'll be a lot less money to buy a new plunger than to pay a plumber to repair or replace damaged pipes.

If you want to avoid using a snake to unclog a drain, or if you don’t have one, try vinegar and baking soda. Pour 1 cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by 1 cup of white vinegar. Wait for 15 minutes, and then run hot water (but not boiling water) down the drain to see if the clog is clear. Repeat multiple times as needed.

Using less toilet paper is the easiest way to prevent future clogs. Also, avoid flushing sanitary products, thick paper towels, or hair down the toilet. If you’ve been using a brick in the tank to reduce the water used to flush the toilet, take it out immediately. Bricks will eventually fall apart and clog your toilet drain. Keeping your toilet lid closed also helps avoid future clogs.

In most areas, drain cleaning professionals don’t technically need a license, as they aren’t altering your plumbing system in any way. However, we recommend hiring a drain cleaning professional with a plumbing license and certification. Certified plumbers are more likely to provide professional solutions to drain clogs without damaging your system. They’ll also have the diagnostic tools and experience necessary to remove the clog entirely rather than providing a temporary solution, as a handyperson might. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to check your plumber’s professional licenses before hiring.

A two-way cleanout can help if there’s already a clog, but the best strategy to prevent one is by not rinsing grease, oil, or fat down your drains, not flushing or rinsing coffee grounds or egg shells down your drains, flushing only human waste and toilet paper (so no diapers, period products, bathroom wipes, or paper towels), and using drain guards on all of your drains.
