"We had an unusual clogged drain pipe problem. Everyone in the company came out to figure out what the problem was, they stayed until it was fixed and we were happy with the results."

"They did a good job on our home, and when we sent them to the rental hm, they told the tenants ,after checking that water heater, that if they flushed that water heater, because of the age of the water heater, there might be a hole in it that would become obvious when all the sediment was drained out ,there might be leak and that it might be best to leave it be. We may have to check into buying a new one."

"I’ve had a clogged drain since the weekend. I had been busy and was trying to clear the problem myself. When I finally couldn’t figure the problem out I finally called around on Wednesday using the bigger companies around and no one could come out until The following Monday or next Thursday. Finally resorted to Angi, thankfully Ben Franklin picked up my stress signal and called me to schedule for a tech to come that afternoon. So relieved and scared that this problem could’ve been costly. Well, they called me about an hour later and said are you available for us to come out immediately! Yass!!!! Even more ecstatic that my situation can be seen this morning. Tech came out and immediately started working and figuring out the solution. Tim was courteous, communicable and very helpful. Needles to say I am a very appreciative customer. Thank you for your immediate responses!"

"I have used this company twice and both times the service as great. The owner came out on the first call and me provided me excellent service. He explained what the issue was; called for the parts and gave me the quote and scheduled to come back the next day after getting the parts. While he was at the house I mentioned another issue that I had for awhile which no one could tell me the problem. He wanted to check it out. He thought he knew what the issue was and when he came back the next day solved that problem also. YAY!! He also gave me a tip that my drain assemblies were under warranty. I ordered them and that was the second service to install them. I would highly recommend this company."

"I contacted 4 plumbing contractors. The lowest bid was for $9,100. One said it would cost over $400 just to run a camera down the sewage pipe. Mr Rooter Plumbing ran the camera and suggested the City of Austin check it out. After a thorough check, the COA said all was well with our sewer drainage. I really appreciate Alex Castillo and the Mr. Rooter Plumbing crew for their honesty and expertise and I will use them again."

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

No. You should never pour old paint down a drain or sewer because it can clog pipes and pollute the environment. You must dispose of paint properly and safely. Different types of paint need to be disposed of in different ways—oil-based paints must be taken to a paint recycling center, while you can throw dried-out water- or latex-based paints in the garbage.

If you're dealing with a clogged sink drain, you may be able to avoid removing the drain by using a plunger to dislodge the clog. While we associate plungers with toilets, they can do the same job with your sink drain. Be gentle, though, as forceful movements can push clogs further into your plumbing system and make them more difficult to remove. Additionally, make sure you’re using a sink plunger—with a flat bottom—and not a toilet plunger—which has a smaller bottom protruding from the larger flat piece.

Regrading your yard can often fix drainage problems. You can also try aerating the lawn to encourage better drainage or install a new drainage system to prevent water from pooling in certain areas.

In the majority of cases, homeowners insurance will not cover a main sewer line root clog. The reason is that most insurance companies consider tree root damage to sewer lines as common wear and tear, which is also preventable. However, you may be able to buy optional add-on coverage, such as "service line coverage" or "sewer line endorsements," that would protect against root damage to your sewer line.

The P-trap (or S-trap in older homes) under your shower is designed to prevent sewer gas from coming back up, so you shouldn’t normally experience foul odors coming from your shower drain. If you do, the vent stack that introduces air into your plumbing system may be clogged, or you may have a more severe sewer main blockage. In either case, hire a plumber to fix the issue for you.
