"I had a couple of holes in my drywall, one small and one large. Zoran made it look like it had never happened! Even though I don't know much about drywall, I could easily tell that Zoran had a lot of experience just by seeing him work. He was prompt, communicative reasonably priced, and just seems like a really nice guy."

Customers say: Quick response

"Manuel completed two projects for me at different times. One involved drywall and painting and the other involved drywall, painting and a bit of carpentry. Both jobs were done very quickly considering what was involved. The work, itself, was excellent and exceeded my expectations both times. When finished, the holes in my living room ceiling and underneath my kitchen sink looked better than new ! In addition, his prices are very fair for the time spent and quality achieved. I could not recommend him more highly. Hire him once and he will be your call-back professional ever after."

"We needed a piece of drywall replaced in our laundry room, and we were referred to PatchMaster. We called and made an appointment for the next day. They arrived exactly on time, and did a GREAT job patching our wall, re-painted, cleaned up, and left the room looking brand-new!"

Small jobs welcome

"I got a call within 5 minutes from Max after posting on Home Advisor. He came over in 30 minutes and gave me a competitive quote. He showed up when he said he would and did a good job on my garage ceiling drywall."

Customers say: Terrific value

"Quick response, show up discussed project, couple days later text message and said cost could be $100.00 less for cashâ ¦I think that should have been mention ftom the first visit! Had work done on my storage doors just by reframing my present doors and not building new doors. If Garcia would have suggested that he would have had the job ."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

You can paint over drywall mud about 24 hours after application, but the exact timing depends on factors like humidity, temperature, and the thickness of the mud. For the best results, ensure the mud is completely dry to the touch and has changed from a darker gray to a lighter, chalky white. Don’t forget to sand and prime the drywall surface before you paint to create a smooth, even finish.

If your home was built before the 1940s and was not remodeled in the past 50 or so years, you probably have plaster walls. Aside from assuming, there are some practical ways to tell if you have plaster walls, including the following: If you knock on the wall and it feels solid, not hollow, if you can’t insert a thumbtack easily, if there are cracks that look like spiderwebs, or if your home has curved, arched, or swirled walls, doorways, or window openings.

If you have an unfinished basement or attic, you could examine the backs of any finished walls to check, too.

A common cause of separation between a wall and the ceiling is truss lift—this can happen to the ceiling of rooms directly under the attic when the seasons change and wood building materials dry out, shrink, and shift. Roof trusses often dry out at different speeds, and if the bottom pieces dry out faster than the top pieces, they can shrink and pull the attached drywall away from ceilings and walls, causing cracks. Fortunately, truss lift is only a cosmetic problem, not a structural problem, and you can fix it by separating the ceiling drywall from the roof trusses, and patching the cracks.

Costs depend on damage size, labor rates, and whether additional services like painting are required.

If the holes in the plaster are small, you can fill them with layers of patching plaster until they’re filled. After it dries, you can sand the plaster and paint over it. If the hole is much larger, consider using bonding plaster first and then a layer of patching plaster, completing the process with sanding and a layer of paint.
