"Excellent experience. Bob (owner) came out and gave a very fair estimate. Bob also came out when the work was performed. Javier did the repairs. Performed the repairs for the estimate given. Looks great. They coordinated both visits. Showed up on time. Cleaned everything up. Will definitely use in the future if I need any masonry work done."

"Extremely happy with the work preformed by Cornerstone Masonry. We had 2 projects preformed over the course of about 1 month and Phil and Tim were extremely easy to work with. The quality of the work is A++, these jobs would have been considerably more expensive but they priced very well."

Small jobs welcome

"Great work on our cracked and Babco Foundation Repair, saved us thousands of dollars by not having to replace it around our pool. The team, Chuck and Dillon called and gave us a heads up early in the morning, arrived on time and did a fantastic job. They were very professional, lots of measuring, discussion on how to best approach the project, attention to detail and great clean up. Thank you Babco Foundation Repair for your outstanding service."

Customers say: Quality work

"Glenn was great to work with. He was very flexible to meet with my at my property on my schedule which I greatly appreciate. I bid out with multiple crews but in the end Glenn's experience showed through. We actually had an issue where the concrete trucks broke our water main into the house. But Glenn and his crew took responsibility, got the parts and fixed it in a few hours. Some people would see this as a negative to the work but I see it as a positive on how companies like this take ownership when issues come up. Highly recommend you use him for any concrete work. My slab came out great and they were in and out in 2 days (this was for a small shed project)."

"We had trouble getting together because of the intermittent rain. Hector and I stayed in touch and I was sure as weather permitted he would do the job. I had 3 bids and his was the most reasonable by far. He also said he needed to grade my yard which was included. The other bidders never mentioned grading and they were 2-3 times more expensive. He and his guys did the complete 21' X 19' slab in one day and I am 100% pleased. I would recommend him to anybody that needs quality concrete work done!"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Yes, depending on the type of pavers you have, you may need a specific type of sealant. For example, concrete pavers will bond differently than clay pavers or faux stone pavers and will demand a different type of sealer. If you’re unsure of the material and what type of sealant you need, you can contact the company that laid your pavers down for you.

Not all cracks in brick indicate foundation problems. For instance, small hairline cracks can occur as a new construction settles. However, larger cracks are often a sign of a more severe issue. Indicators of a potential foundation problem include long horizontal cracks, "stair-step" cracks, vertical cracks that appear indoors, or any crack that widens at the top. Other signs of structural damage to look for are uneven floors and doors or windows that stick. These issues could be caused by problems with the soil beneath the home or an overgrown tree.

When it comes to how to paint a brick chimney, consider that standard paint can seal in moisture and cause serious chimney problems. Instead, use a vapor-permeable sealant. You’ll first scrub and sand the chimney; then, you can patch any gaps with caulk and apply the sealant. We recommend hiring a pro for this job since it entails working on the roof, which comes with a lot of necessary safety precautions.

Yes! Hot glue is an excellent—and temporary—way to spread holiday cheer with Christmas lights without damaging your brick exterior.

Brick spalling—which refers to the crumbly, flaky, or pitted appearance that can develop over time—is caused by a few different conditions. These include:

  • Climates with constant freeze-thaw cycles

  • Use of non-breathable sealants

  • High-pressure water cleaning

  • Improper installation

While you can’t do anything about the weather, you can preserve your bricks by cleaning them with soapy water and a good old-fashioned scrubbing. Pressure washers may be satisfying to use, but they can eventually wear away the surface of your bricks. If you don’t have advanced-level DIY skills in masonry, you can hire a reputable masonry contractor in your area for your project.
