"Eric Herrera Tile has tiled for us since 2013, including converting a guest bathroom and tub, to a bathroom and walk-in shower several years ago. This past September 2020, Eric Herrera Tile converted another guest bathroom and tub to a bathroom and walk-in shower. He also tore out and re-installed our kitchen and dry bar backsplashes. My wife and I appreciate the work of Mr. Herrera’s crews for their excellent craftsmanship in the finished product. The results are always perfect. The prices are very reasonable. And, the work is completed quickly, always on time. Never late and never delayed. However, we especially like the way his crew takes care of our home before they start the work. Our hardwood floors are always covered by the crew for protection. And, all of our furniture in the area surrounding the work is protected by the crew with dust covers. We have never experienced any damage to our floors, walls, or furnishings. They are the definition of professional craftsmen. We definitely recommend them and we will hire them again. In fact, we will ask Mr. Herrera to renovate our master bathroom in the spring of next year."

"Great! We were getting it cleaned because we are trying to sell our house. They showed up and cleaned quickly and effectively. There were 2 stains that I wish the cleaner could have gotten up, but I think they were just too heavy of stains for a steam cleaner. Great job overall and easy to work with!"

"The process went well. We had all wet areas (kitchen, both bathrooms, fireplace, foyer and laundry). Tile was cleaned, regrouted and sealed and granite counter tops done. Everything looks clean and crisp! Steve and Xavier were very informative and thorough!"

"I was very satisfied with the price and great service I received. I had to reschedule the Estimate with Abner twice but he was very polite and understanding both times. Once I finally decided which Wood I wanted and to go with his company, he continued to work around my busy schedule. The Installers that work with him are also very professional and made sure my home stayed as clean and dust free as possible. They even went over the cleaning and maintenance of my floor with me and my kids."

Floor Cleaning and Waxing questions, answered by experts

Yes, vinegar and water can strip wax. For a DIY wax stripper, mix about a quarter cup of vinegar with one gallon of warm water. You can also mix one cup of cream of tartar, one cup of white vinegar, and one gallon of water. Before using it on a large area of the floor, you should test it in an inconspicuous place to make sure it works like you want it to.

Before starting on a full refinishing project, determine if your floors need to be completely sanded down to the bare wood or if the damage is shallow and mostly cosmetic. Deep scratches and gouges will require you to rough sand using a drum sander or belt sander, but small surface scratches or floors that have only lost their luster don’t need a complete overhaul. Instead, you can skip the rough sanding step and sand-screen the old finish with a buffer, removing only the top layer of polyurethane.

Yes, but with caution. A floor grinder is intended to level and polish concrete, so it is a very powerful tool. To remove paint, the floor grinder should be set to 35 square feet per minute or less to minimize the pressure without the use of pocket weights. You might need to go over the surface two times to get any paint that has sunk into the concrete’s pores.

Professionals use various tools and cleaning solutions based on the type of floor they’re cleaning. They often use industrial steam cleaners to pull debris out of the carpet. For localized stains, they may use a commercial cleaner or a mixture of water, vinegar, and dish soap. For tile, they’ll typically use dish soap and hot water, plus a mixture of baking soda and hot water for the grout. For cleaning wood floors, they might use a low-heat steamer, a mop with an oil wood floor cleaner, or a mixture of hot water, vinegar, and lemon juice.

You can use dish soap mixed with warm water to clean just about any type of flooring, and while vinegar is a great addition to some floor cleaners, it’s not a good idea to use it on wood flooring or engineered wood flooring. Vinegar is very acidic, and it can gradually eat away at the protective finish on wood floors. If you’re cleaning laminate, tile, concrete, or vinyl floors, feel free to use vinegar and water in a 1-to-1 ratio with a few drops of dish soap. For wood floors, substitute the vinegar for olive oil.
