"Very pleased with the customer service and the quality of work done by AHC Spray Solutions. The owner, Clint, was on time for his initial appointment and was efficient in evaluating the job and providing an immediate estimate to complete the work. The workers showed up to do the job on time and did the prep and post-job cleanup very well. I am pleased with the work and recommend AHC Spray Solutions to anyone needing spray foam insulation work. "I live in a old house, and the insulation on the attic needs to be added.  City of Austin Utilities (Austin Energy) has a great rebate program for insulation, so I signed up.  EnergyAttic is one of the companies listed by Austin Energy.  For getting the quote, the audit person was friendly and through with his explanation about what's and why's.  Finally I scheduled for the work.  Kent came with his crews and basically supervised and worked on the problem and the insulation.  He made sure everything was installed (seal, insulation) properly and Austin Energy auditor approved the work.  The door blower/blast test took a while because of setting issue (EnergyAttic subcontracted to other company), and finally after 3 hours, we did get an excellent result.  I was happy with Kent's and his crews work.  They were friendly, punctual, and got the work done.  They actually came back to reseal door on the furnace area.  They also promised to come back if  I were to work on the attic and the insulation needed to be re-sweep."

"I have lived in my house for almost 30 years.  Because of popular concerns about mold, some dark edges I noticed on the louvers of my registers and an Angie's Deal for $149, I made an appointment to get the duct work cleaned.  The guy was on time, explained the process, then went right to work with his vacuum-brush.  I had to move my furniture out of his way, though, to set up his ladder.  The total length of ducts in my house is less than 20 feet, so the sweeping/vacuuming part went pretty fast.  I have 10 registers that were washed, and they certainly look cleaner now.  When he started talking about mold is when I started feeling manipulated.  I didn't know, and I am still not sure what mold growing in my ducts looks like.  The guy showed me several spots he claimed was mold growing in the pink insulation, then told me how their mold killing chemical works.  He claimed he was giving me a "deal" by using 2 vials of poison instead of one vial for an additional $700.  Infusing the poison through my duct work certainly did not entail $700 of work.  He just sat by the cold-air return for 10 minutes letting the poison mist get sucked into the furnace, then blown through the ducts.  I have no idea what 1 or 2 vials of fungicide costs, but I am sure it is nowhere near $700.  If you are thinking about getting ducts cleaned, shop around and ask about the cost of their fungicide in case they find some mold.  The guy kept saying I should be grateful my "problem" doesn't require mold-remediation, which apparently is far more expensive.  Angie's List lead me to believe I was getting a bargain, but now I feel like it was a rip-off.  I can't be sure what I got for $950, but if I notice a problem in the next 6 months, Speed Dry will come back to my house for free.  I guess that might be a "guarantee."  The awful smell lasted for nearly 2 days.

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Regular inspections, repainting, and avoiding moisture exposure help maintain integrity.

In some minor cases, you can DIY drywall repair with minimal time and money spent. This method is best when you have a hole made by a singular problem, such as accidental furniture moving, and not a continuous problem, like a rodent infestation.

Knowing what product to use is crucial. For example, small holes only need spackle, whereas large holes might need a new piece of drywall. You can flex your DIY abilities on this project, but if you’d like a second opinion or have a more significant problem, it’s best to call in a drywall repair pro.

Drywall insulation costs around $1,800, on average, but prices can range from $500 to $4,500, depending on a few different factors. The following things are important considerations to make when pricing out your insulation project:

  • Square footage of insulation

  • Type of insulation

  • Climate in your area and the insulation R-value required

  • Whether or not your walls are already finished

  • Accessibility of the area

  • Whether or not you need old insulation removed first

Damp plaster does dry out, although the drying time depends on several factors, including the type of plaster, the surrounding temperature, moisture content, and the extent of the dampness. Sometimes, it can take weeks or months for wall plaster to dry naturally.

Depending on how much adhesive was used as well as the strength of the adhesive, you may have some drywall damage when removing a mirror. You can typically repair most drywall damage if it’s small by sanding the damaged area, applying spackle to smooth the damaged section so it’s flush with the rest of the wall, and repainting the area.
