"I had no idea I needed to clean the vents. I have always lived in new homes. The first thing I noticed is that the vents did need cleaned, pictures of what the vents looked like before and after were shocking. I also noticed the quality of the air. The third is the air conditioner in this house is old and loud. The first night after the air conditioner vents were cleaned I woke up the next morning and realized that I had not been woken up by the air conditioner roaring. That in it self was the most shocking piece of getting my vents cleaned. My husband is sick I am looking at everything in our environment to make sure it is not the house making him sick. GET YOUR VENTS cleaned, you will be shock at what you find out about your air conditioning system vents. Each personà  à ¢à  à  à  à  s experience will be different. "In the middle of a record heat wave my AC broke. AC repair companies have been very busy, but 02 Kool assured me they would make it out to me the same day, and did. Tech fixed my AC and had it cooling in a half hour. I can sleep at night thanks to 02 Kool."

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Troubleshooting common issues with your AC often sheds light on a problem with the compressor. Signs that you need to replace a bad compressor include your AC blowing warm air, short cycling (turning on and off), making strange noises, and blowing less air overall. Since these problems can stem from several areas of your AC, always call a local AC repair team to confirm it's the compressor.

Most units are designed only to cool the house down to 20 degrees less than the temperature outside. This means that if it’s 99 degrees Fahrenheit out and you’re trying to cool your home down to 65 degrees, you’ll notice your AC is struggling.

Lower the blinds on all your windows, turn on your ceiling fans, and keep the thermostat at a consistent temperature to help your AC do its job. Investing in an HVAC maintenance plan also helps because pros will come out to inspect and tune up your unit regularly, keeping it in optimal working condition.

You might notice that your air conditioner isn’t running as effectively as it once did. Specifically, your AC unit could take longer to cool your home, or it might struggle to remove humidity from the air. Higher utility bills and hissing sounds coming out of your AC could also indicate a leak.

Yes. It's normal for the AC compressor to cycle on and off intermittently in dry mode as it maintains the desired humidity level. The compressor cycles to prevent over-dehumidification and to maintain a comfortable indoor environment. This cycling behavior ensures efficient operation and optimal humidity control, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the dry mode function in your AC system.

There are ways to detect a refrigerant leak with several different testing methods. However, most homeowners can figure out something’s wrong with their AC unit by noticing these common signs:

  • Ice forming on the evaporator coil

  • Water leaks near the AC unit

  • Frequent hissing sounds

  • Increased electric bills

  • Unit takes longer than usual to cool

  • Unit is blowing hot air
