"The company, Moore Irrigation Services: in my accumulated experience are the most professional and trustworthy people for any homeowners who has a unique and extremely challenging project. In my case, my 8,000 sq ft backyard has a 45 degree slope. After fracturing my ankle many years ago, I had concrete sidewalks and retaining walls installed. I was â save moneyâ dedicated to repairing my 26 year old sprinkler system UNTIL mainline pipes started breaking UNDERNEATH the sidewalks and tree roots growing larger in diameter were pushing up against sprinkler pipe joints; also the soilâ s shifting- contracting/expanding and in a few spots- the ground was sinking! I hose watered for a few months and concluded that life is too short especially for a senior to be climbing up and down those slippery backyard concrete steps; the front yard required standing as well. Psychologically, I braced my emotions. It was time to get estimates for a new sprinkler system. Any senior will tell you- WE ARE PREY!!!Some contractors refused to pull a permit; others were intimidated by the scope of the job and demanded anywhere from $$3800 (no permit with no specified number of heads and types) -up to $7500 with a permit. I became despondent because the sloped backyard with concrete sidewalks and retaining walls would have to be hand dug! Labor Intensive for sure, I planned to throw some WildFlower seeds in back. Thought about it some more and more more; love my beautiful backyard plants that attract hummingbirds and butterflies; wanted to give my plants the opportunity to live! Okay, I ll call the BIG COMPANIES! â If they re $5,000-$7,000 for a permit and hand digging, then my beautiful plants are DOOMED, my budget is thousands below those outrageous costs My third big company estimate came from Mr. Brad Moore, owner of Moore Irrigation Services. He drove a big truck, had a big cowboy hat and I learned later that he has cattle too; he s not just wearing a big cowboy hat (lol). This gentleman walked my yard several times; reminded me of the necessary hand digging and asked what my budget was . Mr. Moore gave me an estimate for LESS than the lowest bid that I had received (that low bid contractor wouldnt pull a permit and I suspect-would have given me a taillight warranty), Mr Moores estimate was UNDER my budget (WITH A PERMIT and a 2 year REAL warranty). I was stunned! I signed the contract on the spot which had specificity of the number and types of heads; M-2 Controller and I got an all brass double check valve (backflow preventer) plus a ball valve cutoff. During and after installation, Mr. Moores office manager, Mr. Mario Hernandez coordinated and communicated with the crew and the work went smoothly; setup the inspection. After inspection, Mr. Hernandez revisited my home and backfilled the dirt around my new sprinkler boxes. Mr. Hernandez, provided me the utmost support. For everyone who reads this review: I tells ya the Moore Irrigation people are â Incredible human beings. Mr. Moore even stated to me, â Our reputation means everything So thankful for Brad Moore and his awesome company."

Lawns questions, answered by experts

In general, expect to mulch your leaves about once or twice every fall. You want there to be a decent amount of leaves on the ground, but not too much where it’s difficult for the mower to cut through.

Most mushrooms found on residential lawns are harmless. Certain varieties such as destroying angel, fly agaric, and vomiter mushrooms that can grow in grass will occasionally make their way onto residential lawn, but this is uncommon. Since mushrooms can be notoriously difficult to identify, if you suspect that your lawn mushrooms could be a poisonous type, consulting a professional is recommended.

If you have a large area of brush and vegetation to clear, forestry mulching may be the best option. This method works well for relatively flat areas that don’t have many large rocks or mature trees to clear. Forestry mulching is a relatively quick process that improves soil health, reduces fire risk, and leaves behind usable mulch.

If you have a large number of leftover roots, shrub branches, rocks, and soil to remove from your stump removal project, you may need to call a professional junk removal service. A small truckload of junk removal costs between $75 and $125 to haul away. You may also have a free composting center in your area where you can haul the materials on your own.

Lazy composting involves putting leaves, grass clippings, and plant trimmings in a corner of your yard and letting nature take its course. There is no turning, watering, or balancing green and brown materials. It’s a low-effort, long-term approach that can take up to one or two years to create finished compost. It is perfect for gardeners who don’t mind waiting and want a no-fuss way to repurpose organic waste.
