"Patrick and Chris were extremely knowledgeable about all of the pool repairs that my pool needed. They even called out things that were a problem seven years that are still an issue, but we gave up on fixing. They were so great, I hired them to perform the regular weekly maintenance, too. I'm looking forward to a great summer in the pool thanks to Poolie!"

"Aqua Pro Pools just finished the replastering job today for sale of our home in NW Austin! I needed to get a rush job on our pool that has been closed due to plastering and lack of use. I spoke to Ronald on replastering our pool last week and he sent a crew out literally the next day to make our pool usable and having his crew work the weekend. He was very professional and his crew lead by Larry did their job. I saw them working and I didn't want to bother them doing their job. They finished the plastering and now, water is being filled as I write. Aqua Pro Pool did a great job. Thank YOU Aqua Pro Pool for a great job! I have no idea how anyone can write a negative review on such a great company! Let alone, writing negative comment hurts small businesses who are only trying to support their families. Thank you Aqua Pro Pool for such a great job! 150% satisfied!"

Pool and Spa Servicing questions, answered by experts

No, you cannot clean your hot tub filters in the dishwasher. While it may seem like a good idea, the dishwasher soap isn’t gentle enough for hot tub filters and can damage them. Gentle cleaning is better when cleaning the hot tub filters and keeping them intact.

Yes, hot tubs can use a significant amount of electricity, primarily to keep the water heated. A typical hot tub uses between 1,500 and 6,000 watts, and the pump can add another 1,500 watts. This usage can result in a monthly cost of around $20 to $30. The exact amount of electricity consumed depends on several factors, including the hot tub's age, size, heater voltage (120V vs. 240V), usage habits, and thermostat setting. Newer, energy-efficient models generally use less power than older ones. To reduce electricity costs, consider investing in an energy-efficient model, using a quality insulated cover with a thermal blanket, and keeping the filters clean.

Generally, it is more cost-effective and energy-efficient to leave your hot tub on all the time rather than turning it on and off. Reheating a hot tub from a cold temperature consumes a significant amount of energy, so maintaining a constant temperature is usually more economical, especially with frequent use.

For daily or weekly use, it's recommended to keep the water at a constant, reduced temperature, such as between 80 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit, and then increase it to your desired temperature before getting in. If you know you won't be using the hot tub for an extended period, you can lower the temperature to save on energy costs. However, if you use it very infrequently, you can turn it off completely, as long as there is no risk of the water freezing.

When your hot tub is not in use, you can keep it at a constant soaking temperature of around 100 degrees Fahrenheit. For extended periods of non-use, you can lower the temperature by about five degrees. This slight decrease makes it easier and quicker to heat back up to a desirable level when you're ready to use it again. Additionally, you might consider lowering the temperature by a couple of degrees during the summer to avoid feeling overheated.

It’s possible to move a hot tub on its side or base as long as it fits snugly in the moving truck, with plenty of padding around it. This moving method requires specialized equipment and careful planning, like moving straps, dollies, and moving blankets.
