"An unsolicited review of POOLIE pool services: I am not sure where I got the name of Poolie pool services, but what a find!!! This company was one of the best companies I have ever dealt with, the immediate response to any of my emails and/or messages, the quality of the work, the professionalism of all of the employees, the courtesy of their workers are all reasons that I felt compelled to write this review. Jason, great guy and took care of every single concern that I had. Justin, very good worker and would let me know every detail of what was going on Paul, just installed a new valve for me and was quick, efficient, and very courteous Poolie quoted the resurfacing of my in ground 22,000 pool as well as replacement of a bad skimmer and gave me the best price of all of the quotes, they did the work fast and efficient, cleaned up after every visit and maintained the pool even after the pool was complete and full of water to make sure all was as I wanted it. I rarely do reviews, in fact, this may be my first unsolicited one I have ever done, but this company has really proved to be a great find, hope you will consider them, I doubt you will be disappointed. "Riverway did an excellent job replacing my pool heater. I got three bids they were the best and with the highest rated (power) heater. They worked on the weekend to get it set up for an upcoming holiday. Great service, professional, always showed up when they said (for additional service they have completed for me) and a great price. Highly recommend"

"Aqua Pro Pools just finished the replastering job today for sale of our home in NW Austin! I needed to get a rush job on our pool that has been closed due to plastering and lack of use. I spoke to Ronald on replastering our pool last week and he sent a crew out literally the next day to make our pool usable and having his crew work the weekend. He was very professional and his crew lead by Larry did their job. I saw them working and I didn't want to bother them doing their job. They finished the plastering and now, water is being filled as I write. Aqua Pro Pool did a great job. Thank YOU Aqua Pro Pool for a great job! I have no idea how anyone can write a negative review on such a great company! Let alone, writing negative comment hurts small businesses who are only trying to support their families. Thank you Aqua Pro Pool for such a great job! 150% satisfied!"

Pool and Spa Servicing questions, answered by experts

When your hot tub is completely dry, there is typically no need to introduce antifreeze into the plumbing. However, if you desire an extra layer of protection against potential freeze damage, you can consider adding some RV antifreeze to your hot tub lines. Just ensure that you use RV antifreeze specifically, as automotive antifreeze is highly toxic and should be avoided.

Biofilm growth can cause a hot tub to feel slimy. Hot tub biofilm is a slimy substance that’s typically due to natural contaminants like makeup, soaps, skin oils, deodorants, or lotions. A hot tub can also have a slimy interior or slimy water if the tub’s filters are old or damaged, or if the hot tub isn’t properly cleaned. You should drain your hot tub, wipe away any slimy residue, then refill the water and use a spa purge product that prevents the buildup of biofilm.

If your hot tub is well-maintained, covered tightly, and the water is balanced and sanitized correctly, it can remain unused for up to two weeks without significant issues. Beyond this period, the water quality may start to deteriorate, potentially leading to the growth of algae and bacteria. However, it's crucial to note that this timeline can change due to factors like water temperature, sanitation levels, and the quality of your hot tub cover. Regular maintenance and water testing are essential to ensure the water remains safe and clean during periods of inactivity.

Generally, it is more cost-effective and energy-efficient to leave your hot tub on all the time rather than turning it on and off. Reheating a hot tub from a cold temperature consumes a significant amount of energy, so maintaining a constant temperature is usually more economical, especially with frequent use.

For daily or weekly use, it's recommended to keep the water at a constant, reduced temperature, such as between 80 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit, and then increase it to your desired temperature before getting in. If you know you won't be using the hot tub for an extended period, you can lower the temperature to save on energy costs. However, if you use it very infrequently, you can turn it off completely, as long as there is no risk of the water freezing.

Yes, but only if it is a freshwater tub (not saltwater) and if you make sure the chlorine and bromine levels are below 1 ppm.
