"Gary did a great job and we plan to use him again when we do new tile in our kitchen & bathrooms. Our only mistake was choosing another flooring supplier other than the one Gary recommended, they didn't provide the stair noses that matched the flooring they sold us. Gary saved the day by making the stair noses himself from scratch."

"After seeing the über-perfect work done at really great pricing by Sherry's Flooring and Design for the new wood floors at my daughter's home, we decided to get a bid on carpet replacement for our own rather tired-looking master bedroom. Readily finding just the right color, texture, and quality of carpet we wanted from Sherry's huge selection of luxury and budget product samples, we quickly reached an agreeable price and placed our order. In a couple of weeks, the new carpet and padding arrived, along with two of the most professional installers we've seen in our more than 50 years of home ownership around the State of Texas! To start, our many furnishings, including antiques and a particularly massive bed, were securely and neatly accommodated. Then it was "out with the old and in with the new" in short order. Before the afternoon ended, everything was back in place without a scrape nor scuff. Best of all, the chosen carpet looks absolutely FABULOUS. And since Sherry Miller's interior design business includes cabinetry, countertops, custom tilework, paint, window coverings, and what-all, we'll be using them again in the very near future. Without hesitation nor reservation, we heartily recommend the meticulous service, very good prices, and extremely high quality of Sherry's Flooring and Design."

"Very well.  Jordan's staff was very professional.  They moved my furniture and were very respectful and careful with my personal belongings.  The job took about 2 days longer than I anticipated but it was all good.   The flooring turned out great and aside from a few giant hand prints on the walls after they were finished, I was very pleased with the outcome. I would use Doninion again without hesitation

"Great! He is incredibly responsive--replied quickly to my request for a bid, was at my house on time (am embarrassed to say I wasn't but he was kind enough to wait for me), explained everything he was doing in detail, texted me pictures of the rotted spots on the roof that I couldn't see without climbing on the roof (which I didn't want to do), and even discouraged me from doing things that weren't necessary and would cost a lot of money. I thought I needed to get new gutters but he assured me that once he cleaned them out and painted them, I would not need to get new ones. And he was right. We will be hiring him again to change our exterior doors. Also his price was very fair in comparison to other bids we received. And the work looks great. He also used quality products that will last longer than what we had on the house originally."

Carpet Stretching questions, answered by experts

While it may not always be ideal, you can fix a squeaky floorboard without removing the carpet. Pros use specialized carpet screws and drive them through the carpet into the subfloor, securing floorboards. They may also use nails instead of screws if they suspect the pile will get caught in the screw. While some types of carpet will hide the screws and nails, a low-pile carpet may not.

No, it works best under synthetic carpets in high-traffic or moisture-prone areas. Avoid using moisture barrier padding under natural fiber carpets like wool, which need air circulation. The barrier can trap the moisture against natural fibers and cause problems. Also, you can skip it in low-risk areas like upstairs guest bedrooms, where the extra protection often isn't worth the added cost.

You can use a carpet patch to replace a single section of carpet. You’ll cut out the damaged section and then replace it with a caret patch. The patch should be the same color as the existing carpet. You can also hire a professional carpet repair company to get it done.

An Oriental rug should last between 50 and 100 years, on average, but yours could last much longer than a century if you care for it properly. There are many factors that affect the lifespan of an Oriental rug, though. Increased foot traffic, exposure to moisture, exposure to UV light and sunlight, and aggressive cleaning can all limit how long your rug will last.

Yes, carpeted stairs are generally considered safer than stairs with hard surfaces like wood, vinyl, or tile. Carpet provides more traction, which helps reduce the chances of slips and falls, and its cushioning can lessen the severity of an injury if a fall does occur. Hard surfaces often lack the friction needed for a secure tread and can be quite slippery.

However, it's worth noting that some carpets can also be slick, particularly if they are brand new, dirty, or made from certain materials. If any stair surface feels too slippery, traction treads can be added to most materials to increase grip and improve safety.
