"They completed the 50 foot fence replacement quickly and correctly. They responded to all correspondence. Scheduling was a breeze. The only hiccup in the work was they had trouble getting the spray stain right which was obvious. There was a little resistance to fixing that but re-stained the fence once I mixed the right color for them. I highly recommend them based upon my years of remodeling and difficulty in finding good contractors."

Customers say: Quick response

"I hired Joseph to build a deck over a concrete pad + concrete steps. He is the only one who had a detailed drawing of the plan and constantly kept it up to date with all the changes we requested. He was prompt in contacting us and was easy to reach with a very competitive bid. He fit us into his schedule and the crew showed up exactly as agreed upon. On day 1, they built the frame for the deck and finished it even though they were rained out for most of the day. On the next day, the crew came early and worked till evening to get the deck surface complete. Day 3 was for railings and day 4 was stairs and arbor. I had some final changes and enhancements and Joseph worked with me to incorporate my changes with multiple alternate suggestions. He is definitely knowledgeable and great to work with. The crew was very competent and built what we had imagined. Given that this went from a verbal discussion to Joseph's blueprint to then his instructions to the crew and then the execution, the project was spot on. There was no instance of miscommunication or confusion. The cleanup was simply great. Not a single screw or nail was left behind. There was no trash or scraps for me to dispose of. All they left behind was an amazing deck. I am so so glad I choose Joseph to build my deck. Simply wonderful :)"

Small jobs welcome

"Cory did a great job on repairing a section of my pool deck that was damaged as well as pointing out items that I had not seen myself. He is very conscientious and a good communicator. His quotes for the repair were reasonably priced. I will consider him for other projects as they come up."

Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

In most cases, your deck will need some form of deck footing to hold it in place, preventing moisture from rotting your wood and decreasing your deck’s lifespan. Concrete deck blocks are the most common type of footing for floating decks. Some homeowners use ground-level deck footings. For added security, consider digging and laying your ground-level footings below ground.

To prepare a deck for a hot tub, start by thinking about safe and easy access in and out of the tub. Homeowners should plan for steps or consider built-in seating, a level surface around the perimeter, and a clear, slip-resistant path from the house. A hot tub requires sufficient space around it for comfortable entry and exit, ensuring no awkward squeezing or stepping over high edges. Good lighting and handrails can also make a big difference, especially for nighttime use.

Yes, but ensuring the deck has a solid foundation with adequate footings is critical before building, as the weight of a sunroom will put significant pressure on the structure below. Even if your deck is properly constructed, it may not be able to handle the extra weight. While some basic, lightweight, prefabricated sunrooms can sit on a deck with a strong existing foundation without additional supports, in many cases, the foundation and joists will need reinforcement. It is always best to have a structural engineer perform an inspection to evaluate the deck's quality and structural integrity. A professional can help you decide if reinforcement is sufficient or if it's better to tear down the deck and start over.

In general, you need a footing at each corner of your deck, and within 8 feet of each other. So, how many you need depends on the size and shape of your deck, plus any local building codes. It also depends on factors like the load capacity of your soil and the weight of your deck. You can find a footing calculator online or contact a pro for support.

Most building codes list a minimum width of 36 inches and a maximum height of 7¾ inches. However, for the most comfort and spaciousness, you’ll want to aim for a width of at least 48 inches and a height of 7 inches. Again, it’s always a good idea to base your numbers off steps that you already use comfortably.
