"Don't walk, Run from this company! I called them out to repair a 1.5 year old oven and they made an appoint for soonest which was 3-days out, then when the appointment day arrived and went I had to call and reschedule for a week later. They finally arrived and identified the problem, which was the igniter. I paid them $460 for the part installed (which is nearly the price of the oven brand new) and the part they installed failed 9-months later. They advertise a "Neighborly done right promise" which has a 1-year warranty on all parts and labor for residential homes, yet when I called them and they told me they don't participate in that..... So they don't participate in their written guarantee, WHAT A JOKE! This company is a SCAM, DONT USE!"

Appliance Repair questions, answered by experts

You can convert a gas heater to electric, but it isn’t as simple as swapping a plug or two. First of all, you need to make sure there’s adequate power to the unit, as electric units require much higher power amounts versus gas. Then, you need to close off the gas lines and ventilation. Make sure you don’t also need a permit for an electric water heater—some cities require it. Making the switch can cost upwards of $1,500.

In most cases, the repair is worth the value as it should help maintain the life of the appliance for a longer period, and the repair should be a lower cost than replacing the entire unit. For example, if the cost to repair your refrigerator will be more than 50% of the cost to buy a new one, and it’s 10 years old or more, then it may not be worth repairing.

The National Fire Protection Association reports that almost half of reported electrical fires are caused by electrical distribution and lighting equipment. The main culprit behind these fires is often frayed, worn, or faulty wiring, particularly in closed-off and concealed areas like attics, where fires can start and burn undetected for long periods.

Usually, surfaces that heat up or begin to glow when in use are traditional electric cooktops. Induction ranges only warm slightly, and often do not have an indicator that they are turned on (though some newer models have lights to mimic the glow of electric units). Because induction stovetops don’t get very hot, they are considered safer than electric units.

A gas stove is slightly cheaper to operate than an electric stove. Your actual operating cost will depend on your local utility costs, but gas stoves tend to be more energy efficient. However, they also cost more to purchase and install, especially if you don't already have the necessary gas line in your kitchen.
