Mr. Hilliard arrived promptly on time. He was kind and courteous. He explained the repair and was fair and honest in his estimate of the work. He even recommended the less expensive option that wouldn't benefit him. I will definitely call him again if we have a repair need. I highly recommend him! He was very honest and straight forward.

Tolen of Appliance Service of Houston is the best of the best. He's not only honest and ethical, he's more knowledgeable than any appliance repairman you'll ever find. We have a high end 8 year old GE Profile (sub zero style) refrigerator and the freezer wasn't getting cold enough. Three highly recommended appliance technicians, one of whom was a GE technician, all told us we needed a complete overhaul $2600. Tolen took 20 min to diagnose a broken freezer fan. Parts & labor was less than $500.

My situation was pretty complicated. Both the top and bottom ice makers in the refrigerator went out at the same time. Tolen Hilliard arrived promptly and addressed the problem: he identified 3 different parts that could have caused the problem and offered to try one at a time. After trying two of these parts with no success, the third part finally solved the problem. He had to make several trips to my house because of the trial-and-error nature of the repair process in this case. It was a bit frustrating, but this had nothing to do with him. He was perseverant in finding a solution to getting the ice maker going. In the end, it took replacing both ice makers, the main electronic control board and the water regulator to fix the problem. Even after this, the bottom (freezer) ice maker still does not work. That is ok in our situation, and we rarely used it anyway. The ice dispenser on the top is the one that's working again, and that's the one we use regularly. So, the problem was not completely fixed. But he gave a 2/3 discount on the remaining balance of $300 because of this, which was reasonable. Bottom line: I would not purchase a Samsung refrigerator again. It is 4.5 years old, and the ice makers should not have gone out this quickly. This repair was costly, but worth it.

The owner of the small company is Mr. Hilliard. When I called for service he was booked solid for a few days which is no surprise given his professionalism, friendliness, and expertise. He diagnosed the problem which is potentially one of two parts. He ordered both parts for delivery as scheduled a follow up call after he had received both parts. He returned the part that he ended up not using and only charged me for the correct part.

He was excellent!!! I called on Wednesday he had 1 appt available on Friday which was exactly what I needed. He was very proactive and asked for a picture of the refrigerator info (make, model, year) so he could ensure he had parts. He recommended this approach to avoid him having to make a second trip. He was punctual. My mom has white carpet and I appreciated that he had his own painter booties to cover his shoes. He started his trouble shooting process and explained to me the various possible issues. He definitely knows what he’s doing. I’m a firm believer that if you can explain a complex problem, without technical words, and get someone that knows nothing to understand...then you know what you’re talking about. He isolated the issue, dismantled only the required sections, and tested the problem parts. He diagnosed, explained, and fixed the problem in about and hour. He wiped down all the bins that he took out and replaced them. Overall the experience was wonderful!!!

Submitted a service request thru their website on Saturday and received an email within 24 hrs to provide options for the service call. Tolen came out and was very punctual, courteous, and cordial. He knew exactly what the problem was in a short time and completed repair the same day as he had the part with him. Up front price for the work done. Would absolutely recommend to anyone needing appliance repair.

Tolen came out to diagnose the problem and quickly worked out that the motor was broken and we needed a new washing machine. Was straight up and honest that fixing the issue was more that buying a new machine in turn did not charge for the service. Extremely pleased to find an honest tradesman.

I called the owner of the service, he was very rude and hang up on me in the middle of the conversation without any apparant reason. Very rude and anti-immigrant.

"We receive multiple calls on a daily basis, including several from scammers, marketers/business schemers, etc.. This customer kept asking if the telephone recipient was the owner of the business. We asked more than once "how we could help the customer", but we did not get a valid response. If the customer really and truly needed appliance service, then he/she did not need to speak to the owner of the company. This customer could not have known that our company representative on the phone was the owner or not. We never stated the title of our phone representative. At that point, we felt that the call was simply a marketing/business scheme or prank, so we hung up. All it would have taken was for the customer to state their actual business! Our disconnection of the phone call had absolutely nothing to do with the customer's background! Interestingly, this customer listed our company Post Office Box as her address! I reached out to Appliance Service of Houston by phone first because I don't have my tenants schedule on hand, many companies take her phone number and work with her on scheduling then work with me on payment. I called the number first and was directed to their website to submit a service order. I received an email the following day of a couple of times that were available and that I was supposed to confirm along with a model number of the appliance. I decided to go elsewhere. I shouldn't have to jump through hoops to talk to someone and go back and forth to get an appointment made.

"Our busy schedule did not permit us to confirm an appointment with the owner and/or tenant during the week that we received the completed "Schedule Service" form.. The majority of our customers love our "Schedule Service" form, which they can complete and submit at their leisure. In most cases, we "do" in fact work with the tenant and then contact the owner with the diagnosis/estimate "prior" to providing the repair. We provide service for many owners and their rental property. The owners usually provide the tenant's information (e..g.: telephone number, email address, etc.) on our "Schedule Service" form (this owner only mentioned that their was a tenant involved, but did not provide the tenant's information on the form for us to contact the tenant directly). We certainly understand the need for urgency relative to specific customers' situations. However, we can only provide service based on our available workforce and available schedule! We mentioned to the owner that we could schedule an appointment the following week (earliest on a Monday). We are closed on weekends. We did not hear back from the owner until seeing this review. The owner, Tolen, came out. He was prompt, personable, and knowledgeable. He first tried the capacitor and relay, but eventually diagnosed as compressor failure. And while he does not actually replace compressors, he recommended someone like Sears, who is who we eventually contacted to replace it.
