They came out gave me a very good price, and showed up when they said they could. They regraded the gravel driveway we had before doin the tar. Very happy with this job. I am recommending them to other ppl. They talked with me about every thing they was going to do, They were very professional"

"David was very detailed in his assessment of what needed to be done to solve our issues with proper drainage. We had 3 other estimates with only one of those competitive with David’s price. We decided to go with David because his solution was the least intrusive to the property as a whole while solving the drainage issues. Overall, the professionalism of David and his team along with the excellent results of their work would give me good reason to recommend DMC Outdoor Living to anyone wanting a solid job completed by a competent work group."

"Out of all the quotes I received Stefaniak construction provided the best price as well as filling me with confidence that I had hired the right guys for the job. My house is 130 years old so to say there are quirks would be an understatement. When a problem was discovered I promptly received a call asking how I wanted to proceed and we discussed the options. I appreciated this as most contractors simply plow ahead to get the job done and get paid. So in short I would highly recommend Stefaniak construction if you want a job done right and affordably. I would and in fact have hired them again to do additional masonry work on my home."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Yes, using recycled asphalt millings is an eco-friendly alternative compared to concrete. Millings are reclaimed pieces of gravel that are recycled into aggregate that can be used on driveways, patios, walkways, basketball courts, tennis courts, and more.

If you’re looking for a similar, eco-friendly driveway material, you might consider one of these options:

  • Permeable pavement: This material is sometimes called “pervious” or “porous” pavement; it allows stormwater to drain into the subbase, eliminating storm drain costs.

  • Gravel: Consider paving your driveway with locally sourced gravel. By sourcing from a nearby source, your money won’t fund international shipping and will be invested back into your local community.

  • Natural stone pavers: Because natural stone pavers are made from organically-produced stone, there’s no new manufacturing required, limiting the environmental impact. In addition, water easily flows and drains through the gaps in the pavers.

In terms of durability, concrete driveways can last more than 50 years when properly maintained, compared to the typical 30 years for an asphalt driveway. However, the durability depends on the climate, base material and thickness, and thickness of the concrete or asphalt used. The longevity of concrete or asphalt driveways also depends on how well it’s maintained and the amount of wear and tear it endures.

Sometimes, when people talk about asphalt driveways, they’re actually referring to asphalt concrete, which is a completely different compound. Asphalt concrete is asphaltic cement combined with sand or grit. It is significantly more lasting and durable than regular asphalt but also much more expensive. If you’re considering using asphalt concrete, ask an asphalt company for their expert opinions.

The cost to pour a driveway apron depends on the material and size. Concrete costs $3 to $10 per square foot, asphalt ranges from $2 to $5, and pavers are $5 to $15 per square foot. Additional expenses, like excavation, base material, and labor, can increase the total cost. For example, a standard 12x15-foot concrete apron could cost between $540 and $1,800, depending on local rates and additional work required. Always consult a local driveway paving contractor to get an accurate estimate tailored to your project.
