"Dillion was prompt, friendly, and honest with estimates. He provided an itemized Bill of Materials that he updated as the project progressed and to support changes that I requested. Their estimates were in range with my own estimates for the region. Dillion, B.J., and Brandon are professional, hard working, a pleasure to be around, and I would hire them again."

Small jobs welcome

"Got a new blacktop driveway sealed for the first time. Looks great and they showed up early and gave me a quick description of the process before they started, very professional. Great value for the money. My only complaint is the salesguy on the phone said we could drive on this after 12-24 hours but the actual construction guys said wait at least 2 days. This was my first time getting a driveway sealed so I didn't know any better and the extra day of waiting wrecked my plans for the weekend-can't get my car to the shop tomorrow to have the air-conditioner fixed when there's no road access other then my wet driveway. But it's done and it looks good. It was awesome they were able to schedule us the next day after contacting me too."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

While paving a driveway is possible to do as a DIY project, we don’t recommend it. Hiring a driveway professional to pave it will ensure that your driveway looks neat and clean and lasts for years to come, and it will also prevent a weak driveway and, potentially, damage to your foundation. Paving a driveway requires heavy machinery, and while you can rent the equipment needed, operating it close to your garage slab or around your home’s foundation can crack it and lead to structural issues.

Gravel is one of the few driveway materials that can handle rain the second it’s installed. Unlike asphalt, which needs days to set, or concrete, which requires weeks to cure, gravel is ready as soon as it’s compacted. It’s naturally permeable, allowing water to drain straight through—with no risk of pooling or surface damage. Gravel driveways are one of the most affordable, at $1 to $3 per square foot, and can also last upward of 100 years.

You should contact your driveway installer before winterizing a newly installed driveway. Winterizing it before the asphalt or concrete has fully cured can damage the driveway. But in many cases, you don't need to winterize a newly installed driveway anyway since it's likely freshly sealed and won't have much damage yet.

Three inches is a great thickness for a residential asphalt driveway that sees minimal to moderate traffic from cars, SUVs, and pickup trucks. However, a thicker driveway can better withstand the weight of a heavier vehicle, such as a trailer or a recreational vehicle. If you drive a heavy vehicle on a thin driveway, you risk cracking and damaging it.

Asphalt is made of aggregate materials (sand, rocks, and gravel) and bitumen, a viscous, petroleum-based, waterproof substance. These materials are mixed together at extremely high temperatures to form asphalt.
