"I would rate the quality of the installation as a C, the quality of the product as an A and the responsiveness a D.  We had two major issues with the order and installation.  The fireplace was initially cut incorrectly.  When it was measured I was specific that it needed to fill the void created by the old hearth.  At one point we discussed the side area to the wall and he made a statement that if he held it to 6" then that would work.  Since we were discussing the side return of the hearth I assumed that is what he meant but at installation the whole hearth was just 6".  They remade the piece and only charged me for the additional material and not the waste material that they had to remove. I thought this was very fair.  The fireplace picture framing is crooked which should have been a tipoff what was to come with the kitchen.  The kitchen has large gaps next to the wall with the overhang going from 1 1/2" to 2" in just 31" of run.  The corner piece is installed crooked which is what is creating the overhang difference.  It took a month to get someone to come see the issue and then another month and two e-mails and two phone calls to basically be told "the wall is bowed" it is not "We do not scribe to the wall"  something that would have been nice to know since this is the first company that I have ever used that cuts but does not fit and as for the fireplane, the comment was "Well this is the first time we ever did this so I guess it is not that bad". One section of the kitchen counter is not matched well to the other sides.  The explanation is that it is the run of the material.  This is not our first quartz kitchen but is is the first time the layout did not take into consideration the pattern at the most visible area.  My recommendation is to get a company that laser measures, make sure they are willing to scribe to the wall and that you are there when they measure.  Make sure you understand exactly where there will be gaps, note them on their sheet and most of all get a copy of what the make you sign before they leave your home or business.

UPDATE:  Over a month ago (Christmas Eve actually)  KSI sent someone our to look at our issue.  As of today her has been no further contact.  I am assuming that their position is that the walls are not square.  Ours remains the same we should have been told before the job was cut that there would be an issue.  I plan to refer this to a lawyer since KSI refuse to communicate on a timely schedule or to offer a solution to the problem.   We spent $7200 and are treated to poor service.  I wonder how much you have to spend to get a call back in less that two or three months?"

"It's a pretty decent system, I think. They send you the pieces and you install them yourself, which is pretty easy. The only real problem I have is that one sensor is too far away from the panel...or there's some interference, and they haven't been able to fix that. It's an interior door, so it's not the end of the world, just a little annoying. Their customer service is pretty good though. Nice, smart customer service people on the other end, very polite and helpful."

"I'm from Ohio, and I hired your services for my daughter and son-in-law. She seemed to be very pleased with the cleaning service. The individual did say their fireplace was in desperate need of cleaning. I 'm so glad I went on line to Morristown Chamber of Commerce and found your company. I will rest easier because I know my grandchildren will be safe. Thank you so much, Mrs. Pat Ciekanski"

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

If you have a chimney, you need a flue or chimney cap. The right covering keeps rain, debris, and animals from getting into your flue or chimney and causing damage. A flue or chimney cap also provides fire protection. The mesh insert around the cap keeps sparks from flying out of the chimney and igniting leaves and other materials.

Wood fireplace inserts produce more heat without replacing the whole system. A fireplace installer can verify that you have a connector and chimney system to fit the wood-burning insert.

Gas fireplace inserts require less maintenance and are an efficient way to produce warmth. Some can also produce heat in the event of a power outage.

Electric fireplace inserts don't have a real open flame, so they produce flames that mimic a real fire surrounded by artificial logs with LED light. Many electric fireplace inserts produce heat from glowing elements while only using electricity.

They provide excellent heat retention and durability and add a classic aesthetic to a home.

You can close up a chimney instead of demolishing it. Homeowners often go this route because the cost of removing a chimney, especially a structurally important chimney, can be expensive.

Properly closing up a chimney involves closing and sealing the damper, installing a chimney cap damper, and sealing the fireplace opening with a door or bricks. The cost to seal and cap a chimney is around $500 to $650—significantly less than the average chimney removal cost.

Although they provide heat, light, and atmosphere, pellet stoves require electricity to run certain parts, which some homeowners may find to be an unfortunate additional expense. They can also produce noises that some may find annoying, like a low rumble from the blower fan or its motor.
