"Radon Consultants gave a very competitive bid for the work, so we hired them. The work was done as promised, when promised, and with excellent results. They took an incremental approach, which would have saved money. Our problem was about 70% solved by that approach. By adding additional capability to our radon mitigation sysrem, the remainder of the ptoblem was taken care of at a very reasonable price. Their total price was about the same as a competitorâ s price for the first phase."

"Avert Radon LLC , specifically Chance, recently completed radon mitigation work at my residence, installing two systems. I typically refrain from writing reviews, but felt compelled to share my experience with Avert Radon LLC . I'm extremely satisfied with the results, as the radon levels are now virtually undetectable. Chance demonstrated exceptional professionalism throughout the process. The communication was excellent, and their meticulous attention to detail was also outstanding. Furthermore, their post-installation follow-up has been consistently excellent. I highly recommend this company without reservation. They are among the best service providers I've encountered. if I could give it more than five stars, I certainly would!"

"Radon 1 did a great job. We wanted to have our existing radon mitigation system removed as it was right by our new screened in porch and have a new one installed in different location in our home. The crew removed the old system and installed the new system in an area far from our screened in porch. The installation was done in an expert manner, the crew were respectful of our property, quiet, clean, wore masks and cleaned up after themselves so you would never know they'd been there, all in less than a day. The pricing was competitive, we feel like we got a fair price. I would hire Radon 1 again."

"I am a homebuyer. I contacted the Inspector (Pat) through Angies list asking if he could provide me several days and times he would be available for doing a home inspection, and also for pricing. He was prompt in replying, provided both pieces of information requested, and also noted that he could do Radon inspections at a good price. His response to me was very professional and made a good impression on me."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

Radon is the number one non-smoking cause of lung cancer in the United States, but it can cause some other concerning side effects in the meantime. If you have a raspy voice, chest pains, trouble breathing, difficulty swallowing, or any of the above, don’t hesitate to perform radon testing and install a mitigation system as soon as possible.

Testing every 2-5 years or upon adjusting occupancy or structural changes maintains safe environments.

Keeping radon from getting into your home is much better than having to get rid of it once it's already indoors. While there may not be a way to fully prevent radon from getting into your home, there are things you can do to reduce the gas's ability to enter.

Sealing foundation cracks and openings can help keep the gas from seeping inside. Improving air flow, such as by opening windows, can also be helpful. If you're building your home from scratch, talk to your contractor about using radon-resistant construction to keep the gas out.

If your home has a sump pit, you can integrate it with a radon mitigation system. You can accomplish this by sealing the pump cover with an airtight lid that accommodates radon vent pipes and sump pump hoses. This allows the vent pipe to redirect the radon gas outside of your home.

The cost to replace a radon fan ranges from $300 to $600 for the fan itself, with installation adding an additional $200 to $500. Overall, the total cost for replacement can range from $500 to $1,100, depending on factors such as the fan model, home size, and local labor rates. If the fan is part of a larger radon mitigation system, the price may be higher.
