"Did excellent work on the roofing in a timely manner. Had trouble communicating with the office in Caryville. The phones were always busy. They came immediately on the eatimate and one week later started the roof."

"Started slowly, since our original estimate was given by a person who left the company soon after. After our estimate was found in his papers, we got the ball rolling. They were responsive to my request to have it done before school started again, and when the weather didn't allow them to come on the day they originally scheduled, they asked if thery could come on Sunday. I said yes, and they showed up, got right to work, and finished before the end of the day. They picked up their trash hauler the next morning (we live a lot closer to the dump than they do...) We love the roof and have had many compliments on it."

"We could not tell you enough how much we love this company!! We would highly recommend them to anyone needing their services.
S J Plont and Company has the upmost integrity, are honest, and so trustworthy.  I felt comfortable enough to leave them alone in my house to install my floors for an entire week.
We first used this company to install hardwood stairs, risers, wrought iron spindles and hardwood throughout the upstairs of our house.  They completed the project in a timely manner and always went above and beyond what any contractor would do.  We installed all of this in a lived in, furnished house and they always took pride and were so careful when moving our furniture, etc.  What a  beautiful job done!!!
After the work on the inside of our house went so well and we saw how versatile they were, we decided to use them for all of our storm damage on the outside of our house.  They framed out our screened in porch and installed new screen, framed out and rebuilt our deck, repaired our roof and gutters and installed lots of new vinyl siding.  We had lots and lots of storm damage.  Each and every project that they worked on was completed in the time frame they allotted and was completed the right way the first time around!! This company does not cut any corners!!!
We then decided to break down and have them provide our lawn care.  They come bi-weekly to maintain our yard and keep it looking great throughout the season.  I never have to worry if they are going to show up. They come on time each week when expected and mow, edge and blow our yard as needed.  They do an amazing job at this as well!
We have many more projects we plan on using them to complete.  Such as, installing a door to the outside of our house, remodeling a bathroom, hardscape landscaping and building a new front porch.  Their quotes are very reasonable and I can't wait to save the money to put them to work!!!
You will not go wrong with this company! You will be very happy you chose S J Plont and company to complete any project you may have!"

Skylights questions, answered by experts

While it is possible to install a skylight as a DIY project, it is not recommended. Skylights are the most likely type of window to leak due to their position on the roof. Even minor mistakes during installation can lead to significant water damage and high repair costs. Additionally, working on a roof is dangerous, especially when maneuvering heavy, bulky windows. Due to the required roof modifications and the need for proper sealing and structural safety, hiring a professional skylight installer is strongly advised to avoid costly long-term issues.

Fixed skylights are by far the most popular type. Because skylights can be pretty high up on your ceiling, fixed (rather than operable) skylights remove some maintenance from the equation. Plus, you don’t have to constantly worry if you shut your skylight fully the last time you opened it or if you’re going to find a leak later on during a rainy day.

Pros of installing a skylight include the fact that you will get much more natural light in your home, skylights can make your room look bigger than it actually is, and your home may increase in value. Cons include difficult upkeep (you may have to get on a ladder to clean and maintain them), higher installation costs, and, potentially, too much heat gain from all the extra sunlight.

Yes, solar tubes work during the winter as long as it’s light outside and they aren’t covered by snow. Sun tunnels are made to work year-round to bring in natural light, and some people find them even more beneficial during the winter. With less daylight outside, it can be even more important to bring brightness into homes to reduce electricity costs.

Yes, you can cover up a skylight if you no longer wish to have it in your space. There are a few options for covering up a skylight. One option is to install a skylight cover or shade that can be easily opened or closed as needed, allowing you to control the amount of light entering the room. Another option is to cover the skylight with a solid material, such as plywood or drywall, effectively sealing it off. However, when covering a skylight, it's essential to ensure proper insulation and waterproofing to prevent any issues in the future.
