"This is the go to tree service company in our area in my estimation, the ower & his two man crew did an outstanding job removing a dead 60 yr old Maple , the professionalism combined with their friendly personalities made me a retired senior very comfortable, the pricing is very fair & their attention to detail is excellent, they also went out of their way for full clean-up also stacking wood for me to use later , I have had experience with other tree services in the past but none impressed me like J&T tree service.....also want to give a shout-out to the tree climber who showed excellent knowledge of the job & the skill to do it right."

"First time having to do maintenance trimming trees and bushes. Got a few estimates but this company was the only one that took time to explain what and how they were going to do. Also, they are very knowledgeable of different trees and plants and what to-do and not to-do. They were pleasant and perfessional. They exceeded my expectation on what they did. My fence treeline never looked so clean and the trees in my yard look healthy with an amazing curb appeal. Highly recommend this company."

"view: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ They did an excellent job grinding our stump! They showed up on time, were professional, worked efficiently, and cleaned up the area before leaving. The yard looks great, and you can’t even tell there was a stump there. Fair pricing and great communication from start to finish. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing stump grinding services. Great work!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

While trees can grow in the curb strip between the sidewalk and the street, this placement often poses the problem of interfering with overhead power lines. It’s best to consult your local utility provider and tree planting service before transplanting a tree that might grow into power lines. Also, you should never work within 20 feet of a live power line to avoid the risk of electric shock. Tree branches should never touch nearby power lines, so it’s essential to ensure your tree isn’t in danger of growing too close to them.

Completely topping a plum tree is a risky business. Cut too much, and you’ll kill your tree. That said, you do need to trim the top of your tree to encourage bushy growth, maintain your tree’s vase shape, and limit size.

A plum tree's central leader (or trunk) should never extend more than 3 feet above the highest branch. When you first plant your tree, cut the central leader so it’s 2 to 3 feet tall. As it grows, cut it back 12 to 20 inches until it reaches its desired height. Never prune more than one-third of the new growth.

If you don’t trim your palm trees, you can expect several negative outcomes, including:

  • Unhealthy palm trees attract pests, diseases, and fungi

  • Dead falling fronds can cause severe injury or damage to your home, pedestrians, or cars

  • Dead palm branches are flammable and can catch fire, especially during a lightning storm

Leaving the tree stump and letting it rot is never a good idea, as this leads to insect infestations and other frustrations. Additionally, decomposing trunks are at risk for diseases that spread out to the remaining plants and trees in the yard, thus ruining your whole outdoor aesthetic. It's usually best to remove the stump at the same time you remove the tree.

You should avoid cutting off the top of mature cherry trees. This process is called tree topping, and it’s not recommended for cherry trees—or any trees, for that matter. Tree topping removes between one-third to half of the length of the tree trunk, resulting in structurally unsound, fruitless suckers. The only exception is for saplings. Young pie, sour, and tart cherry trees that are over 30 inches tall in the fall or winter before the tree blooms can benefit from heading cuts.
