"I had wanted a lower deck and fenced area for my dog, we worked on ideas and feasibility and costs. I had a large deck and fenced area with black mesh and 48 inches tall on the fence and I added a gate."

"My experience started out great, from the first call to the evaluation. I was able to get an appointment within the same week. Even called back to let me know an opening had become available. During the evaluation I felt AAA Basement was being honest with me about what was needed. No Services were needed, but I was a list of things to work on to prevent mold from developing. The list was explained thoroughly and discussed the need for a Dehumidifier. We have since put in the dehumidifier and things are going great.

"Dillon gave a fair price for storm damage to an old structure. He was upfront with schedule and updated with delays. Final result was very satisfactory. All workers were professional. I will contact Stefaniak for future construction needs. So happy with results!"

"We have a large home remodeling project including removing two bathrooms, changing a garage to an entertainment room, opening a kitchen, and rebuilding a deck. Moe is very capable of handling literally anything you need regarding home remodeling and home repair. He is very knowledgeable, honest and punctual. He always goes the extra mile to help us to reach our goals. Talking about the price, honestly, I donâ t think you can find a second company to charge you the same for the same quality of workmanship. Still have questions about their eligibility of doing the work? This company is fully insured, and Moe is fully licensed with TN. Our town is known for its being so strict with building code compliance, yet our project is on the verge of getting a final inspection approval and we are pretty close to get it. I will use Moeâ s service for all our future home improvement projects."

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

Some older homes have toilets in the basement to combat sewage backups. This type of toilet, also known as a Pittsburgh potty, acted as a safety valve over the incoming sewer line. If a line backed up, it would back up into the toilet because it was the lowest fixture in the home, keeping it out of sight and away from the finished areas of the house.

Basement toilets were also used by workers with messy jobs, like those who worked in coal mines or steel mills. This way, they could clean up and avoid tracking dirt through their home.

Living in a finished basement is acceptable, but only if the space has the proper points of egress and includes smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) detectors to ensure the safety of the occupants. A good way to ensure your finished basement is suitable for use as living space is to get the basement finishing project properly permitted.

You technically can paint wires in a basement ceiling, but there are several important safety and code considerations. It's safe to paint non-metallic sheathed cable as long as the labeling remains visible. You can also paint low-voltage wires and conduit and junction boxes to help them blend into your basement.

However, you should not paint damaged or deteriorated wiring is a fire hazard because it poses a fire hazard. The same goes for painting over high-heat wires that connect to heat-generating appliances or systems. Be sure to avoid painting multiple coats onto any wires, as that traps heat and poses fire risks.

Rebar is an essential part of reinforcing a basement floor, as not having it can impact its structural integrity. It helps absorb the tension factors that contribute to cracks in your floor and strengthens its load-bearing capabilities by evenly distributing the weight. Not including rebar could lead to an unstable floor, so don’t skip it!

A finished basement must have a heat and electrical supply with an entrance that meets building code requirements, such as a stairwell to the home's main living space. It often must include finished walls, ceilings, and floors. If the finished basement includes a bedroom, it should have a heat source, an egress window, and a closet.

Remodeling, as opposed to finishing, means altering an already finished basement by adding a bathroom, bedroom, or living area.
