"Being a veteran myself, I try to find and utilize veteran owned businesses. So when the 13 Bradford Pear tress lining my driveway needed pruning and shaping, I found Rowan Tree Care online as a Vet owned business and gave them a call. Ed answered and took my information and scheduled an estimate for the next morning. Upon arriving, Ed was professional and friendly. He took time to listen to what i wanted done and then explained how his crew would perform the pruning, etc… After agreeing to the estimate, he then scheduled the service for the following week. His crew showed up at 9a.m. On Monday as stated and immediately got to work. Everything was competed to our agreement and our trees look great! Thanks Ed for a great job!"

Customers say: Quick response

"William is great, gave us a good price and did the job by his word. A large magnolia tree was taken down and he's coming back to grind a large stump. We are very happy with the job he has done so far. We will use Cherokee Mountain Tree Service again if needed in the future. I recommend their services."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

It takes anywhere from three to seven years for a stump to decompose on its own. This timeframe can depend on the kind of tree and your climate. The lower to the ground the stump is, the faster it rots. If you kill a tree stump with salt, boiling water, herbicide, light deprivation, or burning, the tree stump decomposes faster.

You may wonder whether tree removal is tax deductible: Tree removal is not tax-deductible for homeowners unless it's related to a federally declared disaster. In that case, the cost may qualify as a casualty loss. However, if you own a commercial property, like a rental home, tree removal could be deductible if it's necessary for safety, maintenance, or part of a larger capital improvement project, and you must hire a professional tree removal service and keep documentation. Always consult a tax professional beforehand to see if you qualify.

Pruning a tree is a yearly DIY job that involves removing small dead branches, leaves, and blooms to help the tree grow bigger and stronger. You can often complete the job with basic home gardening tools. Trimming a tree, however, removes larger sections to control the direction the tree grows in and protects your home, utility wires, and yard from potentially dangerous branches.

It can take anywhere from one month to a couple of years for tree roots to grow back in sewer lines. Tree roots can cause extreme havoc on your sewer lines, potentially cracking them and causing untreated wastewater to make its way into the groundwater. Have a landscaping pro remove trees and roots before installing your system, or call a pro to do it retroactively as soon as you can.

The best time to prune Japanese flowering cherry trees depends on where you live and the type of flowering cherry tree. Some trees benefit from being pruned toward the end of winter or early spring, after the last freeze. Meanwhile, other trees do well after blooming, in late spring or early summer. Avoid pruning your flowering cherry tree in the early winter, as this encourages open wounds that can lead to infections or infestations.
