"It went very well. We hired Advanced Landscaping to prepare our residence for sale. Mr. Vance did a great job deciding which features to emphasize and which to remove. They did the work in a timely and professional manner, kept us informed throughout the process, and it looked great. I would definitely hire Advanced Landscaping again."

Small jobs welcome

"These 2 men (dynamic duo) did an amazing job. This job was to replace our current concrete garage floor. We knew the floor had to be replaced when we bought the house a year ago. It was sunken in the middle so much that none of the edges against the walls were flat. We had to use shims under cabinets to keep them upright. These 2 gentlemen were professional, communicated well, hard working, laid protection down on our driveway and garage walls to keep those clean during the process and cleaned up when they were done. Their price was fair and would highly recommend them to anyone needing concrete work."

"The team with Gator Cut & Construct did a great job replacing the liner in our above ground pool. After working through some weather delays, they knocked it out. They are experienced and knowledgeable about the process. They took care of some unforseen issues below the pool before installing the new liner. It was a little more involved than originally thought but they addressed everything at a fair price. I would recommend them and will call them again for any pool maintenance needs. Thanks Matthew, I appreciate your help!"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Yes, rock gardens do need water. That said, they typically require less regular watering and, instead, more occasional, deep watering since the rocks trap moisture for longer than mulch. Make sure you don’t water your rock garden too much during the winter.

Yes, you can hydroseed with a garden hose, but you’ll need a tank or other large vessel for mixing the slurry, then a pump to send the slurry through the hose for spraying. Making your own hydroseeding unit can work, but it’s not usually worth the effort and supplies unless you already have them.

While you can leave roots in the ground, if you don’t want the shrub to regrow again over time, it’s best not to leave any roots behind. Ensure you remove as much of the shrub as possible, including the root ball and any main roots you can see, to prevent new growth. Some gardeners opt for using a chemical treatment to prevent the stump from growing back, but this can kill beneficial microorganisms living in your soil.

A scattering of leaves won’t pose a problem through the winter, but a thicker layer of leaves may not decompose before the first frost and can instead weigh down your grass and harbor mold or fungi. A thick layer of leaves also cuts off light and air that grass needs to grow. That’s why we suggest removing thick leaf layers within several days if possible. If your lawn goes dormant over the winter and snow has already caught up with you, then remove the leaves in early spring before your grass-growing season starts so your lawn can thrive.

In addition to aloe vera and lilac, other effective humidity-reducing plants include peace lilies, Boston ferns, English ivy, spider plants, and lucky bamboo. These plants thrive in humid environments and can naturally lower moisture levels. Place them in areas prone to dampness for the best results.
