Customers say: Quality work

"Patricia and Fernando were fast and professional. I appreciated their communication at every step during the process. They havenâ t been a company very long, but itâ s obvious that they have the experience and the service to measure up. They installed a mailbox and a handrail for our front steps. I have two other projects I will be using them for later this summer. This was a great experience."

"Moises repaired columns on my porch and painted both. He also repaired some window frames and painted them. He installed new cut off valves for my washer and fixed my shower valve in the bathroom. He needed a piece to fix the shower and had to come back a few days later."

"My old plaster ceiling was failing and Cirio were able to demo it and hang drywall in a reasonable time for a reasonable cost. I would definitely use them for any similar projects."

"Surv Nashville was very easy to work with. Tom and Joe were polite, professional, and did good work. A time or 2 we had to make sure we were on the same page, but it all worked out well. Danny did his best to make sure I was happy before they closed out the job. I would highly recommend this company."

"I have used SSI Construction many times over the years. The owner, Shawn, is always friendly, responsive, and professional. SSI has done a great job for me and my family including installing a new PVC privacy fence, installation and service of our furnace and AC, rebuilt our deck, and completed multiple painting projects for us. They are a one stop shop for us and give us great prices. Highly recommended!"

"Professional, knowledgeable and friendly. He securely hung curtain rods for my very heavy draperies. Before beginning, he answered all my questions and gave helpful suggestions. His work is efficient and well done. I would hire him again!"

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

In most cases, having a fire hydrant installed on your property, whether it’s maintained by you personally or your municipality, will reduce your insurance premiums. Its proximity to any buildings on the property will reduce the time it takes to put out a fire, thus reducing the resulting damage.

It’s technically possible in some areas to install your own fire suppression system, but it’s usually not a good idea. Your system must conform to the fire code in your area and will need to pass a rigorous inspection before being activated and deemed safe. Installing a fire suppression system is a complicated job, and making mistakes as a DIYer is likely. Those mistakes can cause you to fail your inspection, which means you’ll have to spend more time fixing the issues or money to have a certified plumber do the work for you. It’s best to hire a professional.

Yes. Not only do gas stoves present the risk of a gas leak, but cooking with gas produces twice as much harmful particulate matter. According to Columbia University’s Climate School, gas stoves can also release formaldehyde, a known human carcinogen, and carbon monoxide, which can be toxic in high concentrations.

Grounding is a great first step to prevent electrical shock, but you can take it further with GFCI outlets and AFCIs (arc fault circuit interrupters). In particular, AFCIs help protect against the type of electrical arcs that cause fires, like if a mouse chews on a wire or your laptop starts overheating at the wall. These are required in some areas of your home.

You should only use water to put out a fire in your fireplace in an emergency situation. Even then, it is better to use a fire extinguisher to put out a fire quickly. Make sure every room in your house that has a fireplace also has a fire extinguisher—and that everyone in your household knows how to use one.
