"Fantastic! Jason answered our phone call immediately about repairing and staining our deck and was over that evening to give us a quote. He was so helpful in answering all of our questions and ensuring our deck was going to be safe to use for the upcoming warmer months as we just moved into our new house. After one week of receiving the quote, Jason and Tanner began working on the deck and the job was done beautifully in just three days. I wish I could upload pictures on here for the before and after because it does not look like the same deck. My husband and I could not be happier with the result and cannot wait to use our "new" deck! We would highly recommend Jason and his team!"

"Absolutely wonderful customer service, especially after the other 2 companies I tried that either didn’t show up or overpriced the job - 1 of the recommended teams did not even have a truck to get the supplies & expected me to pay upfront for the material & have it delivered to my house- even wanted a deposit before scheduling work. Corey called me within 30 minutes of the request, came out the next day after another job to see what I wanted to do, returned the next day to get exact measurements for the quote & performed the job the next morning. He was in constant communication with me, letting me know when he was on his way ( which is important as we work at home & have a dog), and was professional, courteous, and the work was exactly what I wanted. He also let me keep whatever leftover materials I wanted! Definitely planning on using him again and have passed his info on to all my neighbors!"

"Moses was great! He exceeded my expectations in staining and sealing my deck. Shows up when he says he will. He offered to do additional touch ups at not additional charge. It's great to have someone with that kind of work ethic. I highly recommend MJ Remodeling and Carpentry. He also knows a lot of other highly qualified handyman if you have something around the house that needs a qualified handyman. His prices are very reasonable."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

In framing, studs are placed at 16-inch intervals to coincide with the typical spacing of wall materials such as drywall or plywood. This spacing is called "on-center" and is necessary for maintaining structural stability and efficient use of materials. The 16-inch spacing also helps to distribute the weight evenly across the building's structure. For those looking to cut material costs and improve energy efficiency, 24-inch stud spacing can be employed through a method called "advanced framing". This requires careful planning and adherence to local building codes to ensure structural integrity.

Yes, ceiling joists are typically load-bearing. However, their primary function is to support the weight of the ceiling and loads applied to it, like lighting fixtures and ceiling fans. They can also help support the roof, especially if they’re part of truss systems. Remember, the load-bearing capacity of ceiling joists depends on the material, size, and space between them.

When choosing a drywall anchor, consider the weight of the object you're hanging and how much weight the anchor will need to support. The heavier the weight, the stronger the anchor you'll need. You’ll find the weight capacity on the packaging when shopping for anchors.

Also, remember that you can use more than one anchor when hanging something on the wall. If you're using multiple anchors, divide the object weight by the number of anchors to determine how much each will need to support. If you need help deciding which drywall anchor to use, you can hire a handyperson to hang your objects.

Carpenters are trained to take on a wide range of home projects. You can hire a carpenter to do framing, roofing, build custom furniture, and make significant upgrades to your home. General carpenters are usually able to handle most jobs. However, you may also choose to hire a carpenter who specializes in a specific type of carpentry.

You can enclose an open carport, however, there are several things to consider before opting to do so. You'll want to check local building codes and permit requirements before proceeding to make sure it’s legal. While you can sometimes stick-frame a carport enclosure, pre-fab kits are also available. Remember that you'll likely need to meet concrete slab regulations and provide lighting inside the structure. Both of which could substantially drive up costs.
