"These guys were exceptional. They came out to my house and did a very thorough examination of the problem. They did a minor repair to my roof ( at no charge) in hopes that it has fixed my problem. They are very courteous and present a very professional and knowledgeable presentation of craft. Would definitely recommend and use these gentlemen in the future. Thanks again!!!!!!"

"Bradley and Sherry actually got here early! They explained what they were going to do, came in and got it done. Afterward Bradley inspected the chimney told me everything looked good. I got the inspection certification in with my receipt. And when they were through you couldnâ t even tell they were here. Everything was clean and tidy. Bradley also told me he could assist if I ever decided to convert the wood fireplace to gas! Good people! And I hear it is good luck to shake hands with a chimney sweep, so thereâ s that too!"

"Fast and friendly service. I needed my deck repaired, and they did a beautiful job. Mr. Lavalle pressure washed my home exterior and put in new outside lighting, and trimmed the bushes in front of my house. I'm having more work done in August, and E R Chimney Sweeps will be doing that, too. Not only does my deck look beautiful, but I was charged a very low price."

"I'm from Ohio, and I hired your services for my daughter and son-in-law. She seemed to be very pleased with the cleaning service. The individual did say their fireplace was in desperate need of cleaning. I 'm so glad I went on line to Morristown Chamber of Commerce and found your company. I will rest easier because I know my grandchildren will be safe. Thank you so much, Mrs. Pat Ciekanski"

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

To reset an electric fireplace, first shut the unit off using the control panel or remote control. Make sure the unit is entirely shut down, then unplug it from the power outlet. Wait five to 10 minutes, then plug the fireplace back in and turn it on. This process should reset the electric fireplace. After resetting, make sure to set the thermostat, timer, and other programmable settings to suit your preferences.

The time required for a chimney inspection depends on the inspection level. A Level 1 inspection typically takes between 45 minutes and two hours, with an average of about an hour and a half. A Level 2 inspection usually takes less than two hours. A more in-depth Level 3 inspection can take up to five hours, or even multiple days if it requires removing materials. The total duration also depends on the chimney's size, condition, and how long it has been since its last inspection; chimneys with severe damage will require a longer inspection.

You don’t need electricity for a wood-burning stove unless it has a blower fan. Some wood-burning stoves include blower fans to help with heat distribution, but blower fans have a motor and use electricity to power the fan. You can still operate a wood stove without using the blower fan, so it’s a good source of heat if you have a power outage or are looking to lower your electric bill during winter.

Pellet stoves are safer than wood stoves in many ways. They don’t produce as many creosote deposits as wood stoves do, they create less smoke, and the flames are contained, decreasing the risk of any sparks or embers creating a house fire. Pellet stoves also burn more cleanly and efficiently than wood stoves do.

You shouldn’t remove a fireplace yourself. Before beginning this job, you’d need to know whether or not you have a load-bearing fireplace. To do that, you’d need help from a structural engineer. Plus, fireplace removals require permits and often involve working with gas lines or electricity, which can be dangerous. For all of these reasons, it’s best to hire a pro for this project.
