Small jobs welcome

"William was Avery cordial person and went to work immediately when he showed up at my house. I was a homebuilder for 35 years and donâ t know if I ever had a plumber so professional and courteous at the same time. The job site was cleaner when he left than it was when he got there. Thank you!"

"If you need quick help , reasonable prices for the scope of work these guys are the best at what they do. Very respectful and very knowledgeable. They also are very fast and response time. I had a broken pipe and they got the job knocked out 5 stars , no complaints. Also, payment process is simple. I even got quotes for problems I didn’t know was there so you can budget out a future head ache and catch it before happens so I highly recommend them."

"I had an outstanding experience with The Hot Water People! They came out to fix my stand-up shower, and I couldn't have ask for better service. They were prompt, professional, and clearly knew exactly what they were doing. The shower is working perfectly now, and they even took time to explain what went wrong and how they fixed it. Five stars all the way! Highly recommend them if you shower or water heater work done! A special shout-out to Josh, who was friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure everything was just right. Thanks Josh!"

"They did a fantastic job at my home. They came right away to see what I needed and came back the next morning as promised and did a very neat job. They had to cut into my wall to do the work, but they did not leave a mess behind. I could barely tell where they made the cut. I highly recommend them and will be calling on them from now on when I need plumbing services. Very nice guys and very good at what they do. I love that they keep their word and show up when they say. They will forever get my business."

"I was immediately and was able to make the appointment time I wanted. The day before I was called and asked to change the time, I had already made arraangements with my job so I refused, then another plumber was assigned my job. He arrived right on time. He did several plumbing jobs and had to make several trips to the store. The work took longer than I expected and I didn't realize the cost was going up and the ultimate bill seemed vey high to me. One of the toilets that was fixed began to leak that evening, so he had to come back to re-fix it. I will not contact this company again."

"We called at 12:40PM and they were here by 1:48PM. They fixed the problem and were gone by 2:40PM. They were very courteous and knowledgeable. Also during this time of Covid-19 they wore a mask which was most appreciate by this senior couple. Would definitely call them again."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Whether wall-mounted or floor-mounted toilets are better comes down to personal preference.

Overall, standard floor-mount toilets are less expensive to purchase and install, but they don’t offer the streamlined, modern appearance and adjustable height of wall-hung toilets. Ease of cleaning should also be considered, as wall-hung toilets are easier to clean than standard models.

It is okay to use a drain auger on a toilet, just make sure you are using the correct tip size. The auger is a plumbing snake with a protective sleeve to protect the porcelain toilet bowl from getting scratched. Using too large of an auger can cause the snake to loop back and damage the inside of the drain and plumbing.

Yes, you should screw your flange to the subfloor, including cement. The best way to get this done is to predrill holes into the concrete using a hammer drill and a ¼-inch concrete bit. Be careful when you’re ready to bolt your flange down, as you can accidentally crack it. You can avoid this issue by not installing the screws too deep. Or, you can opt for a flange with a stainless steel ring so you don’t have to worry about cracking the plastic.

Ensuring your toilet will fit starts with measuring the rough-in, but there are a few other factors to consider. The toilet tank's height and the toilet's depth should fit comfortably within the bathroom’s current setup. When considering depth, look at the walking space around the toilet to ensure it fits in the bathroom.

Yes, frozen pipes can cause a toilet to stop working correctly. If the pipes are frozen, water cannot flow, which can lead to two main problems. First, the supply line to the toilet tank may be frozen, which prevents the tank from refilling with water after you flush. Second, the drain pipe itself can freeze, blocking water from flushing away. As a temporary solution for a non-refilling tank, you can manually add water, but this is not a long-term fix. To clear a frozen drain pipe, you can try pouring warm water into the toilet bowl or tank and then flushing, as the warm water may help thaw the ice blockage. Ultimately, the best course of action is to unfreeze the affected pipes to restore your toilet to full functionality.
