"Fantastic experience! I needed privacy at my front doors but did not want to darken my foyer. Christina was so helpful- we found beautiful shades that allow me the privacy I needed, but that do not take away the natural light. I love them! Thank you Hamilton Rae!"

"We had a complete bathroom and partial master bedroom remodel along with replacing our roof. Quinta did a very good job and we are completely satisfied with the work performed. Bryan was open to changing some of our original plans and also adding additional work to the project. He returned every call and did what he said he would do when he said he would do it. We highly recommend Quinta Contractors."

"Inspiration Cleaning does a fantastic job! We were looking for a cleaning company who would be dependable and do a good job consistently while also charging a reasonable fee. Inspiration Cleaning meets and exceeds all our expectations. They are so thorough with their cleaning, I completely trust them and the price they charge is more than reasonable especially for the quality of service we receive every time. I highly suggest them you won't regret it."

Interior Design and Decorating questions, answered by experts

Typically, general remodeling involves architects, contractors, interior designers, electricians, plumbers, and sometimes structural engineers. Each plays a role in bringing the project from concept to completion.

Yes, professionals will offer tailored solutions to fit architectural and personal style preferences.

While the terms 'interior designer' and 'interior decorator' are often used interchangeably, they represent distinct professions with some overlapping work. The primary difference lies in the scope of their projects.

An interior decorator focuses on the aesthetics of a space, making less permanent decisions about decor. Their work involves selecting colors, fabrics, furniture, wall art, paint, and other finishes to 'dress' a room and enhance its style.

An interior designer has a broader scope that includes a decorator's aesthetic focus but also extends to the structural and functional aspects of a space. Designers are qualified to plan layouts, make structural changes, and manage overall functionality. They handle permanent decisions regarding fixtures like cabinets and bathtubs, establish floor plans, and may hire contractors.

Due to the technical skills required, interior designers typically have formal education, certification, and may hold a license, which can result in higher fees. As a general rule, it is best to hire an interior designer for major remodeling projects and an interior decorator for projects focused on establishing or refreshing a home's interior style.

Designers optimize space, improve aesthetics, and recommend durable, high-quality materials.

It depends on the scope of the project and your confidence in your own design capabilities. If you’re simply replacing a few appliances or want to change the cabinetry, you most likely do not need a designer. If you’re doing a full reno, you should bring in a pro unless you have a very strong design sense and want to spend hours laboring over the various technical details.
