"I called many roofing companies only to be told that the job was too small and they wouldn’t quote the work. This company came out, quoted the job and gave a realistic price and timeline. They did a fantastic job and even asked if we wanted to add having the house pressure washed. We did! We were kept up to date on all the work as it progressed and are happy with the work."

"Our roof was a combined flat roof and shingle roof, as our home has an addition. The flat roof needed to have an incline put on it desperately. When Mr. Fuller and his crew came to do the roof, he saw that there was 2 inches of standing water on the flat roof. He left immediately (the crew stayed and worked) and got the appropriate materials to create an incline on the flat roof and had his crew tie it into the existing shingle side. Within a few hours, that work, the shingles and the TPO was all installed. He took a years long headache off our hands. He was so polite and so professional from the very first time we ever encountered him, through to the last time he came to collect the final check for the work done. I simply can't say enough good things for Fuller Construction and Interiors, for Mr. Martin Fuller himself and the military precision he does his work with. He's got an amazing company, a wonderful work ethic and the best crew of workers I've ever seen in my life. They came, they worked, they cleaned up, they did such a great job. My husband was so pleased that I found him. Thank you Martin Fuller. If you need work done on your roof, just call Fuller Construction and Interiors, don't even bother calling anyone else."

"Perfection metal roofing replaced my old and damaged roof with a brand new metal roof that looks fantastic and functions great. Their customer service was excellent and the price they gave me was less than half of what comparable contractors were quoting me!"

"Jason initially came out to inspect our roof and ended up doing a repair around our dormer. His communication was excellent and he did great work. We will be needing a new roof in the next year or so and we will definitely be contacting Precision Roofing when that time comes."

"Mr. Burton was very professional and explained everything he was going to do from start to finish. From the very start in our communication he told me what time he could do the job and at that time he was in place and ready to go to work. While on my roof he found some damage took picture and brought them to me."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Yes, shingles should overhang the drip edge, typically between 1/2-inch and 3/4-inch. An overhang shorter than 1/2-inch can allow wind-driven rain to get under the shingles and damage the roof deck or fascia. Conversely, an overhang longer than 3/4-inch increases the risk of shingles getting caught by strong winds, which can lead to roof uplift. Always check your local building code for exact overhang requirements in your area.

As with any roofing material, there are benefits and drawbacks to consider before installing roll roofing. On the plus side, roll roofing is budget-friendly, lightweight, and comparatively easy to install. It is also ideal for low-sloped roofs and lasts around 10 years. The cons of roll roofing, however, include its low durability compared to roofing materials, restricted color choices, and low ROI.

Pros:

  • Low-cost

  • Lightweight

  • Cut to size

  • Easy and quick installation

  • Designed for low-sloped roofs

  • Waterproofs your roof for an average of 10 years

  • Easy to purchase and transport

Cons:

  • Less durable than asphalt shingles

  • More prone to cracks and tears

  • Short life span

  • Not as many color or style choices

  • Not as aesthetically pleasing as shingles, wood, or clay tiles

  • Not preferred for a higher home resale value

Costs vary by repair scope, materials needed, and labor, with average repairs ranging from $300 to $1,000, contingent on roof size.

The number of roof vents necessary for a 2,000-square-foot house depends on several factors. The calculation depends on the net free area within the attic and whether your municipality requires a 1/150 or a 1/300 ratio of venting square feet to attic square feet. If you install vents with a square-foot opening of one, you'll need either 14 or seven exhaust vents and an equal square-foot amount of intake vents.

Some people prefer to use connectors consisting of galvanized metal to replace the birdsmouth cuts on the rafter board. Common names for these metal pieces include hurricane ties and variable-pitch connectors. Making birdsmouth cuts is more cost-effective than purchasing these connectors for each rafter. However, because making large birdsmouth cuts to accommodate extra-wide exterior walls can weaken the rafter, a connector may be the better option in some cases.
