"Outstanding Drywall, Painting, and Ceiling Resurfacing! I recently had the pleasure of working with Matt and Mona for a comprehensive project that included drywall installation, painting, and the removal of popcorn ceiling with resurfacing. I can't recommend them highly enough! From start to finish, their attention to detail was impressive. They worked diligently and communicated effectively throughout the entire process, keeping me informed on their progress every step of the way. The quality of their workmanship was exceptional, and the transformation of my space is absolutely stunning. Additionally, their pricing was very reasonable, providing great value for the quality of service they delivered. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I am extremely pleased with the results. "We had a damaged section of drywall in our bathroom due to a missing seal around the shower door. We didn’t know why the wall was wet . We called Andrew at Coastline Repair and asked him if he could come over and assess where the water was coming from. From the beginning, he was very friendly and professional. He found the problem and gave us an estimate for the repairs. On repair day, Randall replaced the damaged drywall, painted it to match our wall color perfectly!! He also caulked the seals at our shower glass door where it met the shower walls. We had several baseboard corner joints that were cracked at the seams. Randall caulked them all! We highly recommend Coastline for any home repairs needed. They are very conscientious. thorough, and maintain professionalism throughout the whole process. We are very pleased with our results and highly recommend them. They can be trusted to keep their word!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

In most cases, plaster repair will improve your home’s energy efficiency because a solid barrier of the insulative material helps keep conditioned air inside your home. Major plaster repair jobs like repairing large cracks or crumbling sections of plaster or applying a skim coat might make a noticeable difference in your heating and cooling bills. Not only can plaster repairs improve efficiency, but they can also reduce strain on your HVAC equipment, potentially saving you money on maintenance and repairs.

Drywall repair is typically completed within a day, depending on damage extent.

The easiest way to remove texture from walls is the soak-and-scrape method. You’ll need to spray a section of the wall with water and let the water soak in and soften the texture. Then, you need to scrape the texture off using a drywall taping knife. This method works best with unpainted walls since paint prevents water from saturating the textured joint compound.

You can usually tell if you have plaster or drywall by touch (plaster is harder, colder, and smoother than drywall) or by tapping on it (drywall sounds hollow, plaster does not). If you still cannot tell, peek under an outlet cover and check the cut edges. The rough edges show the composition of the wall. You will see either drywall (two paper sheets sandwiching gypsum material) or only plaster material (no paper sheets).

Whether you need a drywall anchor depends on the specifics of your project, particularly what you're hanging and where. You do not need a drywall anchor if you can screw or nail the object directly into a wooden stud, as the wood provides sufficient support and stability. However, if there are no studs in the location where you plan to hang the item, you should use drywall anchors to ensure it is securely supported. For very lightweight objects, like small pictures, adhesive picture hanging strips can be a suitable alternative to anchors.
