Customers say: True professional

"I recently had the pleasure of working with Nick and Oleh from Premier Home Design & Construction. They cased my second-floor windows and added crown molding in my upstairs bedrooms. I couldn't be more pleased with their work! They completed everything in about five hours, showcasing their incredible efficiency and skill. Nick was fabulous with communication throughout the process and extremely kind, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. I’m already looking forward to hiring them again for future projects. Highly recommend!"

"Upstate Helpers constructed, wired and roofed a beautiful enclosed deck. Their craftmanship, efficiency and expertise exceeded our expectations. The owner/contractor contacted us consistently throughout the build to inform us of material needs, crew management and cost estimates. His crew(s) were very knowledgeable and professional. Many of their ideas were incorporated during the build to improve the appearance and quality of the finished product. Overall, we will hire Upstate Helpers for future projects. I have recommended this company to neighbors and coworkers, who were impressed with their work both in person and via picture reviews. I feel confident knowing that their work is warrantied and that they care about the customer."

"We had a dubious staircase, a floppy rail system, and rotten spots in our large deck. Surface Bella fixed all three concerns. Work was done in a timely fashion. Staircase is beautiful. Railing is very nice and there are no more holes in our deck. I recommend surface Bella for deck repairs for the work quality and their great communication."

Gazebos questions, answered by experts

Porticos last 25 to 60 years, depending on the material used. A portico’s roof typically matches the roof of the rest of the home and can be replaced simultaneously. Portico columns have a similar life span if properly maintained and regularly sealed. In some areas, harsh weather and extreme temperatures may cause a portico to wear more quickly.

Yes, many gazebos are permanent structures built onto the land. However, if you have a portable gazebo that isn’t secured to the ground, you’ll want to check the manufacturer’s instructions to understand when to put it away. Generally speaking, when it’s particularly windy or wet outside, you should take down your temporary gazebo.

Several types of porches are available to meet your needs and style preferences. Some common porch types include:

  • Porticos are essentially a roof over a walkway leading to the home's front entrance.

  • Sunrooms are closed-in porches that are an extension of the house with glass or plastic panels that allow optimal sunlight.

  • Wraparound porches extend around the entire home, or at least the front and one side, and offer multiple entrances to the house.

  • Back porches are an extension of the home’s floor into the outdoors. These offer more protection and privacy than a deck.

Using concrete footers is the best way to secure a gazebo on a deck without drilling. The weight of the footers is more likely to hold your gazebo in place than other methods. You can also pour concrete into flower pots to create an aesthetically pleasing concrete footer or use concrete columns to make a statement.

The main purpose of a gazebo is to provide a covered space for people to gather comfortably. They’re an excellent place for summertime get-togethers because the roof protects you and your guests from the sun. However, gazebos can also serve as a design feature, adding a bit of charm to a backyard or garden.
