Small jobs welcome

"The Matais team ripped out the old insulation, cleaned the space & installed new insulation as well as vapor barrier. Also installed additional blown in insulation in attic. Accomplished all in one day. Good price & hard workers. Very happy with our experience."

"Ok, but not what I expected. The advertisement in the Angie's List email is misleading. It shows an infrared camera being used for the inspection, which would have easily shown visually if there were leaks in the ductwork. Instead the inspection was carried out using an infrared thermometer, which will only show if there is a difference in air temps leaving the registers. I could figure that out just using my hand. So, the inspection results state that there could (and probably is) some leakage in the ductwork, but could not show me where exactly potential leaks are located. Overall the service was ok, just to learn about how the home itself was fairly insulated and somewhat energy efficient, but was ultimately disappointing that it could tell me where I may have leaks in the ductwork."

"Price was about average, can't complain - don't remember exactly how much or exact service date (disclaimer).  Company screwed up the scheduling.  Installer was busy with personal life and we had to work around their schedule.  Inconvenient.  Came out and sprayed insulation in the garage.  They left the door open to the basement so the entire chemical smell inundated the basement.  The spray was general even but there seemed to be small holes and spaces generally through out the insulation.  When I inquired about the small spaces the response was they generally use the small spray cans you can get at Home Depot\Lowes but that they didn't have any.  I said I would take care of it myself, I had enough inconvenience with the screw up in scheduling.  Other than that went well - it's not that involved, just spray foam.
They did clean up the mess relatively well, but not perfect."

"Over all it was OK.  I was not happy with how much time I had to spend picking up trash after they left - from strips of sharp metal, to dozens of screws every day for a week (literally), to their snack wrappers and drink cans every evening.  The house had been painted a few months prior to the roof job and they managed to gouge several pieces of newly painted wood from the sides of the house.  I was told it would not mildew and 2 years later it has and needs a cleaning.  Had they been honest about that, I would have gone with a darker color.

"Before removing or cleaning anything we would set up a 3200 cfm air scrubber on the outside of the building tied into one of
the foundation vents to create a negative pressure in the crawl space. This will keep dust, mold and odors from traveling
upstairs and harming tenants. Next all the crawl space vents will be sealed using foam board and expanding foam. All visible
floor penetrations such as holes where wires and pipes extend through the sub floor will also be sealed. Once everything is
sealed and a negative pressure has been created we will begin the project. The project would start with a deep cleaning of the
crawl space area. All debris would be removed including old vapor barrier, trash, large rocks, old pipes, etc.
All insulation will be removed. It will be bagged and hauled away all in same day.
$645.00
Mold will be cleaned from the wooden surfaces in the worst affected area by using the swipe method. Using a shop towel
(heavy duty paper towel) all wood surfaces will be swiped, the towel will be folded then swiped again untill all mold particles are
removed, never rubed into the surface. The cleaning solution ''Advanced Cleaning Solution'' made by Anabec. After thoroughly
cleaning the affected wood surfaces we will apply ''mold control''. Concrobium Mold Control effectively eliminates and prevents
mold with no bleach, ammonia or VOCs. Concrobium works as it dries by crushing the mold spores at the roots and leaving
behind an invisible antimicrobial barrier to prevent future mold growth. This will be applied by use of a fogger. The fogger
guarantees every square inch is covered.
$535.00
Install new r-19 insulation. Use insulation brackets to hold insulation tight to the subfloor. All subfloor area will be covered.
$1,125.00
Install new 6 mil reinforced white vapor barrier covering 100 % of the soil. All seams will be taped with heavy duty poly tape.
The vapor barrier will extend 12-14'' up the foundation walls and attached with mechanical fastners. Provide a remote
hygrometer. Using this you can monitor the conditions in the crawlspace without having to go down there.

"Ethan explained (in detail) how they would not only set up the panels on top of my home, but that they will also "pressurize" my home, including my air conditioning unit, to ensure that I get the best service possible from my panels!  He explained every detail of cost, taxes, and best of all REBATES!  He explained several methods of purchase, as well.  I have his personal cell phone number in case I have questions, and I can call their office at ANY TIME if I need anything.  So far, my experience with Sunpro Solar (Mandeville, LA) has been nothing short of great!  In a few weeks, I'll have my solar panels installed.  The time it has taken to get to this process has been minimal.  Everyone I've spoken with at Sunpro Solar has been friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, respectful, and accommodating.

"Because my home is built on stilts, they were unable to recommend a plan other than to hire a landscaper to re-direct the flow in the yard. They did reassure me that there were no leaks that needed to be handled for the structural integrity of the home."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Simpsonville homeowners are choosing spray foam for superior air sealing, blown-in cellulose for eco-friendliness, and radiant barriers to reduce summer heat. Energy efficiency upgrades like whole-house air sealing and crawl space encapsulation are trending, along with vapor barriers for moisture control. Many also opt for insulation with recycled content or low-VOC materials, and integrate smart thermostats for better comfort and energy monitoring.

Helpful?

For insulation maintenance in Simpsonville, keep essentials like a moisture meter, utility knife, flashlight, dust mask, and safety goggles ready. Stock up on vapor barrier plastic, foam sealant, weatherstripping, small fiberglass batts, and aluminum tape. Given Simpsonville’s humidity, consider a dehumidifier, mold prevention spray, extra plastic sheeting, and insect repellent to help maintain attic insulation and crawl space encapsulation year-round.

Helpful?

When hiring insulation pros in Simpsonville, prioritize experience with local humidity and seasonal weather. Look for knowledge of energy efficiency upgrades, attic insulation, and moisture management. Ask about air sealing, vapor barrier installation, and crawl space encapsulation. Request multiple quotes, check recent local references, and inquire about available rebates or incentives specific to Simpsonville to ensure you get the best expertise and value.

Helpful?

Before starting insulation projects in Simpsonville, confirm if permits or inspections are needed and schedule them in advance. Arrange for a moisture and pest inspection, especially for older homes. Clear access to attics or crawl spaces, remove stored items, and check that lighting is sufficient. Plan work during milder weather to avoid extreme heat, and verify material availability with local suppliers to prevent delays.

Helpful?

Combining insulation with upgrades like HVAC improvements, roof replacement, or window weatherization in Simpsonville can streamline projects and reduce labor time. Pairing insulation with crawl space encapsulation or vapor barrier installation is especially effective for moisture control. Coordinating these improvements may also help you qualify for local rebates or energy efficiency incentives, maximizing both your comfort and long-term savings.
