"I cannot say enough good things about All Points Carpet Care. The owner was very responsive, and called before the consultation and appointment just to verify that the times were correct and that they were on the way. The quote was very affordable, and he estimated the time needed for the job almost exactly, and was able to schedule me right away. The carpets in my entire house were stretched where needed and cleaned thoroughly. He made my carpets look like new and I would absolutely hire him again. By far one of the most professional people I have used in my history of owning a home and I'm thrilled with the results."

"Pretty good considering that the upstairs of our house has endured a cat and a dog for ~10 years. They got just about all of the stains out we had and carpet looked very nice. They also were really good about not damaging any of our furniture or fixtures upstairs. They got out all of the pet stains and they did the job very fast in a few hours. The only stain that they could not totally remove is a magic marker stain from where my daughter tried to trace her foot on a piece of paper over the carpet. This stain did not fully come out though it did fade a great bit. I'm probably being too picky given the extent of this stain and the amount of it. I was just overly optimistic they would get it out. My wife thinks that it will fade even more. My wife thinks they did an excellent job with the stain, so I'm giving them an A. But I did label B for quality and price, due to this stain not coming out. I would hire them again."

"They were great to work with. They brought out several rugs for us to look at in our home. They moved furniture so that we could see how each rug would look when down. The owner, Reza, advised us on the proper size for the room. He even reversed the pedestal legs on our dining room table when he saw that they were on backwards. When we chose the rug, he placed it in the room and installed the pad. It was a great experience!"

"We decided to go with Joe after our first experience with him. In our first experience he replaced the flooring in a home we sold and installed bamboo floors and carpet throughout. Because of his excellent service and professionalism then, we knew he would be the only person we'd call 2 year later to do the same work on a rental property. Great job and service!

Carpet Stretching questions, answered by experts

Carpet stretching can be a worthwhile investment to increase the lifespan of your carpet and eliminate unsightly wrinkles, ridges, and ripples. For an older carpet that is in relatively good condition aside from some wrinkling or bubbling, restretching can make it look like new and extend its life by at least a couple of years. You should consider restretching when you notice looseness or other related issues.

However, it's important to note that stretching will not fix issues like stains, wear in the pile, or discoloration. Consider replacing the carpet instead if the repair cost is more than 50% of the price of a new one. Additionally, if your carpet is past its expected lifespan of five to 15 years, or if it has been stretched multiple times already, replacement is likely a better option.

It is not recommended to install or stretch a carpet without a power stretcher. Skipping essential tools like a power stretcher and a knee kicker will likely result in an improper installation, leaving you with wrinkles, creases, and an unappealing final look. While a knee kicker can provide some limited stretching for thinner carpets, it is not a proper substitute. Attempting to stretch a carpet by hand or with homemade tools can also shorten its lifespan. For the best results, you should buy or rent a stretcher. If you do not want to use a stretcher, it is better to hire a professional for the installation.

No, it works best under synthetic carpets in high-traffic or moisture-prone areas. Avoid using moisture barrier padding under natural fiber carpets like wool, which need air circulation. The barrier can trap the moisture against natural fibers and cause problems. Also, you can skip it in low-risk areas like upstairs guest bedrooms, where the extra protection often isn't worth the added cost.

The best way to fix carpet matting is to start by vacuuming thoroughly in multiple directions to lift the flattened fibers. For more stubborn spots, apply moisture with an ice cube or steam, then fluff the carpet using a spoon, comb, or carpet brush. A blow dryer or warm iron over a damp towel can also help restore the carpet’s texture. For deep or widespread matting, a professional cleaning is your best bet to fluff your carpet back up to its former glory.

Yes, carpets should be replaced after a house fire or significant smoke damage, even if they appear undamaged. Smoke, soot, particulates, and chemicals can penetrate deep into the carpet fibers and padding, making complete removal a complicated and time-consuming process. If water was used to extinguish the fire, it can also soak through the carpet and padding, creating a risk of mold and mildew growth. Due to these challenges and potential health risks, replacing the carpet is the safest and most effective solution.
