"I contacted Williams and Sons through Home Advisor and I ask for and was confirmed for Monday morning at 8:00 am. They called on Sunday morning and said, "We are not working on Monday. Can we come this afternoon." I agreed with a 5:00 pm appointment. They showed up a little before 7:30 pm with no call or explanation until they were done with the work (which was done professionally) and then in the midst of conversation one of the men told me they "Had been working on getting a guy water." They finished about 10:00 pm. I have three complaints about what happened... 1) As they went in and out of the house they would take their shoes off outside, stepping on the damp sidewalk with their stockings and then tracking through the house. Immediately inside the door was a hard floor where, once asked after they had made two or three trips, they did take their shoes off inside, thus eliminating the problem. 2) We did not get an itemized bill but one simply bill stating they had installed a 40 gallon hot water tank and brought some water lines up to code. -- When I asked, "How much less would this have cost me if you did it on Monday instead of Sunday night, the guy who seemed to be the leader said, "$150-200." I asked for Monday: It was your choice to come on Sunday night instead. Why must I pay extra because you chose to come Sunday instead of Monday. If I had asked for Sunday night I would have expected to pay extra. 3) COST: The most expensive A. O. Smith 40 gallon hot water heater Lowe's sells is just under $1300. They went to Lowe's and picked up the unit. If the unit cost $1300 it means they charged us 7 hundred dollars in labor for a two and a half hour job: Equaling $280 dollars per hour labor. That sounds a whole lot like "price-gouging" when according to Lowe's the average plumber charges less than $100 per hour. This is all assuming we got the highest priced 40 gallon heater Lowe's sells. Which is questionable! Thus; "The Value For The Money" is very questionable. A little more transparency in cost and pricing would go a long way in solving two out of the three complaints and a little more common sense of realizing if you step your stocking foot down on a wet surface covered in leaves off the bushes right there, you are going to track those into the house and thus make your efforts seem a lot less professional."
