Small jobs welcome

"We hired Nick, owner of Gallagher Painting and Restoration to restore the drywall as well as paint our entry foyer and hallway. Nick was able to review the project quickly and respond with a written estimate in just 2 days. We had a signed contract within a week! Nick started the job on the day he promised and finished on schedule. His work, as well as that of Matt, his assistant, was impeccable. Our home is older and his drywall repairs made the walls and ceiling look like new. We appreciate his attention to detail. Nick and Matt were thorough and did excellent work, not taking any shortcuts. Nick communicated with us before and during the project to ensure everything was as we expected. Our walls, ceding, doors, and trim look great. I highly recommend Nick for any restoration or painting needs you may have!"

"I would highly recommend this business.  We had them come and restain the deck and at first just powerwash the house.  They scheduled the work right away.  After doing the pressure washing, there were some areas with paint chips under the soffit.  Mike offered to repaint those for free.  During this, they noticed areas of the soffit that were rotten, so we had them repair those areas of the wood.  They also fixed a few screens that were damaged during the pressure washing for free.
Everything turned out great, and we are very happy we had this work done.  Mike and Crystal are very professional and easy to work with.  I will be having them do some more work on our house in the near future.

"Russell built the house as promised, and it was everything we wanted it to be.
That's the good news.  The bad news is it was over budget, several things we picked out weren't done correctly and had to be re-done.  When we finally tried to close on the house and take possession there were several leans on the house from different sub-contractors that had not been paid.  Even though we had already paid Russell the money.
It became clear that Russell had used our funds to cover himself for being over-extended and over-leveraged on other projects.
Bottom-Line:  We have the exact house we wanted, over-budget, over-deadline from a builder who does good work, but we no longer trust.
If you use this builder, enter an agreement at your own risk and have protections in your agreement."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

If your premixed drywall mud is dried out or has begun to set in the bucket, you may be able to revive it by adding warm water and stirring. However, the first and most important step is to scrape off any hard, dried bits of drywall that may have accumulated toward the top of the container and throw them away because they will not easily reconstitute back into the drywall mud mix.

Textured walls are a great way to hide imperfections left over by drywall installation, but many homeowners feel like it’s an outdated look, despite there being so many types of drywall texture. And while the textured walls of today are a far cry from the popcorn ceilings and faux stucco of our grandmother’s homes, if you want a more modern look or you want to install wallpaper, it’s time to smooth out your walls.

Whether you can reuse a drywall anchor depends on its type, material, and how it is removed. Plastic anchors, such as expansion or self-drilling types, are generally considered single-use because they are designed to expand and are likely to break or become deformed upon removal. Metal anchors, like toggle bolts, are more durable and can often be reused if they are not damaged during extraction. However, with toggle bolts, the toggle mechanism can fall inside the wall when the bolt is removed, making it difficult to retrieve. If an anchor is damaged or must be cut for removal, it cannot be reused regardless of its material.

Textured walls can increase the value of your home if the style is modern and seen as a desirable feature and not something a prospective buyer would need to remedy. A good example of this is popcorn texture versus Venetian plaster. The plaster wall would add value to your home, whereas the popcorn texture may be something a new buyer would want to remove.

When doing a DIY paint job, it can be tricky to achieve the perfect, straight line between your wall and ceiling. There are several methods, including lining it with painter’s tape and using the “cut in” brush tactic. Some homeowners choose to apply a thin line of caulk to the wall-ceiling seam to create the appearance of a perfect line.
