"I had an electrical fire in my attic due to faulty wiring and it ended up burning through a ceiling beam. There was also a 3x4 ft hole in my kitchen where the fire dept pulled down the drywall to make sure they got all the embers out of the insulation. Russel and his crew came out two days after I called and repaired everything in a quick and timely manner. Replacing the torn up section of drywall along with the beam and re-texturing the ceiling.

Russell is a prior home contractor who decided to go just go into home repairs (less stressful/better work schedule I'm guessing), so he knows what he's doing. If you have been disappointed in the past with other repair services from the yellow pages (as I have) or a previous person you hired to repair something just made the problem worse (me again), this guy is who to call to make sure it gets done right the first time."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Yes, walls on the top floor can be load-bearing if stacked on the floor’s foundation.

You should stagger drywall sheets to help prevent cracking. The joints between drywall sheets are the weak spots, so if you install drywall with seams aligned, you’ll create weak lines that run across the length of the wall and extend from floor to ceiling. But when you stagger drywall, the solid sections of panels will support the joints. This can prevent seams from cracking or separating due to fluctuating temperature and humidity, vibrations from movement inside the home, and gravity.

The time it takes for thinset to dry is determined by your room’s ambient temperature and humidity levels. Assuming the average humidity level is around 40% with an average temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit, thinset can dry within 48 hours. Lower temperatures and higher humidity can extend the curing process beyond 72 hours, while high heat and zero humidity can shorten the curing process. However, thinset can crack if it dries too fast.

Depending on how much adhesive was used as well as the strength of the adhesive, you may have some drywall damage when removing a mirror. You can typically repair most drywall damage if it’s small by sanding the damaged area, applying spackle to smooth the damaged section so it’s flush with the rest of the wall, and repainting the area.

Drywalling a garage is a smart decision if you want to protect your garage from fires, moisture damage, and exterior noise. Most garages have flammable supplies that could result in serious damage in the off chance of an accident. Drywall is fire resistant, helping to prevent fires from spreading. Not to mention, drywall can improve the appearance of a dingy, old garage.
