While a three-inch center-to-center handle is common, there’s no guarantee that sizing will be the same for every cabinet. While buying pre-built cabinets is more cost-effective, building custom cabinets allows for full modification to fit unique spaces, such as rooms with high ceilings or unusual layouts, which stock options cannot accommodate.

Most cabinetry made for a garage will have special coatings and finishes built to withstand extreme heat and cold, moisture, pest damage, rusting, and dry rot. However, many homeowners have put their old kitchen cabinets in the garage, added a couple of fresh coats of paint, and use them for a while without too much wear and tear.

If your cabinets don’t reach the ceiling, you can extend them higher, adding visual interest, privacy, and storage space to your kitchen.
