Customers say: True professional

"Fantastic! We had hired a handyman from SMAP ( send me a pro ) to install a new bathroom door for us and he did such a terrible job that the door would not even close. Hg came out and corrected the situation so we now have a perfectly functioning door. We now know who to recommend , and who not to recommend, when work needs to be done."

"We wanted a detached garage. We liked Vicars Construction reviews and hired them. Their workers were very professional & easy to work with. They built us a beautiful garage and we are really enjoying it. We would recommend them to anyone planning a building project. If in the future we have other building projects we will certainly call on them."

"Excellent-why? After requesting a quote on Angie's List I received a return call within minutes. Brandon scheduled me for a 1 hour slot from the time of the call. Josh and Q arrived early (can you believe it?). They went through every irrigation zone and identified the issues. They showed which sprinkler heads had issues. Some had to have the angle readjusted, some were covered with dirt and landscaping and 3 heads needed to be replaced. Very pleased with their professionalism and can do attitude. I'll be calling them in the future and telling all of our neighbors about their services."

"Gabriel and his crew did a superb job - 16 cu. yds. of good, dark mulch. They worked quickly and carefully, taking care around shrubs and other plantings. Excellent work, dutifully performed and with fine efficiency. We will surely call on Gabriel again! Barry Lauer"

Small jobs welcome

"Quality. If youâ re looking for a builder who emphasizes quality over anything else, look no further. Matt went above and beyond to ensure our home was completed to his standard which honestly was much higher than my own. Matt built our house cutting no corners and that was important to us at the time and after being in the house for several months, reminds us why we chose Wheelhouse over others. We bought an old home in an established neighborhood that needed expanding and updating. Wheelhouse literally took the roof off our house to add a second story and fully renovated our existing kitchen, living room, and other bedrooms. The old house received a facelift inside and out which substantially increased our curb appeal as well as market value of our home. Every one of the team members felt like family by the end of the project but just like family, weâ re happy to see them go too! They completed our work in a timely manner and in a way to not be intrusive to my familyâ s needs at the time. In the future, we would not hesitate to work with Wheelhouse again for other renovation or new construction needs."

Greenhouses and Nurseries questions, answered by experts

Eco-friendly materials include sustainably-sourced woods, recycled metals, low-VOC paints, and non-toxic sealants, which reduce environmental impact. Using these in repairs promotes sustainability and can improve indoor air quality and overall building health.

Minor fixes like patching leaks or repainting are DIY-friendly, but structural repairs require professional expertise.

The quickest way you can protect plants and trees from frost is to cover them with garden blankets or frost cloths. Also, bringing potted plants or trees indoors is much simpler than trying to cover and protect them outdoors. Remember to anchor blankets with something such as sandbags, fabric pins, or rocks if the forecast calls for strong winds to keep them from blowing away and exposing your trees and plants.

Adding burnt charcoal to your garden beds and plant pots can yield several benefits, but there are risks involved, too. Charcoal, particularly biochar, can enhance soil structure, improve water drainage, and increase nutrient retention. When activated, charcoal provides key nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. However, burnt charcoal, especially from briquettes, can inadvertently alter soil's pH levels and become hazardous to plants. Overall, there are better and less risky soil amendments available, such as vermiculite, perlite, or wood chips.

In most cases, wait three to five days to repot or relocate a plant from a greenhouse or nursery. That way, your plant has time to recover from any shock during the move and adapt to the conditions in and around your home. Some hearty plants may not need as long, and delicate plants might need several weeks. You should ask the professional at your nursery for a recommended timeline. Consider asking about an initial watering schedule to help stimulate root growth and promote a healthy plant.
