Mr. Viehweg has consistently been very professional, courteous and prompt to respond. His work is excellent. As a 25+ year home-owner with a great deal of exposure to both good and poor residential construction practices, I highly recommend Scott Viehweg. They have serviced me in the past as well, with a new fuel pump, and fixed my automatic locks on my door. The automatic lock fix was the third time I've had that replaced, the first two times being Race Automotive. They never could get it right after two tries! One time with Mooneyhan's and it has worked ever since. I even brought it in one time for a leak, and they tightened a hose for me and that was it!! Nothing more! I trust these guys with all my vehicles. They are the BEST out there!!!! Even if I move, I will always bring my car to them! So honest!! Further, their system was run over by their own heavy equipment crushing the drain system on the north side of the property. This has caused water to collect in that area. When they started the project in Oct. 2012, they did not notify the company that sends techs out to identify utility lines and they cut the gas line to my house. I had a sump pump in the backyard on the south side of the property that their equipment shorted out. That sump pump ran the water from the front yard to the lake. Not only that, but they found that tie in and diverted it to their sump pump for the french drain that they installed around the foundation of the house. I was told, by the president of the company, that my rain gutter downspouts should have been tied into the french drain system by her employees. But, in January of 2014 when they came to do that, the president asked if I really wanted that. I was shocked because she was the one who told me that should have been done. There were so many issues, and the length of time between anyone contacting me was ridiculous. The bottom line is that they do not understand french drains, they are not professional and I was say run the other way and definitely find someone who will give you a warranty which I have obtained from another company and will be using them in the future. This company doesn't guarantee anything. There were so many problems and I wish I had lived in the home prior to allowing them on the property, but they were recommended by a friend. Please do your research before hiring anyone, especially this company. Get everything in writing, do a walk through of the property, make whoever you hire explain it all in detail. Especially if they are "supposedly a friend of yours".

They came out, looked at the sump pump and determined the problem. They never got back with me. I called them a week later and they gave me the run-around saying they lost my number, but they never called back. I haven't called a 2nd choice yet.

Terrible experience. I have built 4 pools at 4 different homes and my experience with Crystal Clear Pools ( Eric D'Angelo, owner) is the worse pool building experiences I've had. All starts out well, he talks a good game as in "Yeah, I can do that, " and "Here's a great price" and then you're...

Cottrell & Co., Inc. Plumbing, Heating and Air is a full service residential and commercial plumbing, heating and air company that has proudly served the Columbia and Lexington areas since 1995. We have enjoyed building a reputation of excellence through quality parts, expert employees and maintaining high standards of workmanship. We pride ourselves in communication with our customers by listening, offering multiple solutions and always giving the price upfront. We also offer 24-hour emergency services.
"Do not use this company for backflow tests! I called Cottrell for a simple backflow device test. I was charged $213 for a backflow test which was over twice the amount I was told to expect by friends and family who had the same test done by other plumbers (one even showed me his invoice for $35.00). It is an absurd price for a very simple test and far overpriced compared to other plumbers in the area."

"I don't ever write negative reviews, but we had the worst experience with Meetze Plumbing. It started ok, but it fell apart pretty quickly. We have tried to get them to resolve the issue beyond the measly $500 off our bill they offered. We hired them to move our bathtub drain and water supply to fit our newly purchased free-standing tub to replace our builder-grade tub during our bathroom remodel. The first technician that came out was polite and moved the drain and water supply based on the schematic for the new tub. We paid that bill. The next step was to have the floor and wall tile installed which we did. Then, Meetze was to come in and install the tub. A new technician showed up and, when it became clear that the drain was not moved to the proper location because the tub wouldn't fit, he let us know the first technician no longer worked for them. He moved the drain to the new location after we had the floor tile cut to accommodate the new hole in the floor where the technician marked it. This appeared to solve the problem, but, when they placed the tub, we noticed that the water supply (installed in the wall) was not aligned to the center of the tub. Due to this issue, we could not use a standard length tub spout or the water would pour over the tub lip onto the floor. We brought this to Meetze's attention, and they sent someone out who determined that a floor joist prevented them from moving the drain to align with the water supply. We couldn't move them both without major tile demolition on both the floor and the wall to move both the drain and water supply to align. At no time did Meetze offer to pay for the tile work to make it right. So, we sucked it up and ordered an expensive long tub spout knowing that it would always bother us that the water supply and tub did not line up, but at least we could use the tub. When we finally got the tub spout in the mail, I was excited to try out the tub, but, when I climbed into the tub facing the water supply fixtures, I could clearly see that the faucet handle and tub spout were also not aligned!!! The faucet handle is about 1/2" off center of the tub spout (see picture). I contacted the owner with no response and replied to the invoice email requesting that an owner or manager reach out to me. Still no response! I know people make mistakes, but they should be corrected. If we ever sell our home, someone with the smallest bit of OCD will not be able to handle the misalignment of the tub, tub spout, and faucet handle. The only communication Meetze is happy to send is an invoice asking when we plan to pay. I am paying the invoice now, as much as it boils my blood to pay for such shoddy work. Please do not use them. They may be a little less expensive than the other guy, but it is not worth the headache and the permanent damage to your home."

FAQs for well and pump service projects in Columbia, SC
Estimating what size well pump you need is challenging and often inaccurate, but a general rule of thumb is to take the number of fixtures—including water-consuming appliances—in your home and aim for that number in gallons per minute. That calculation method would allow for every fixture in your home to use about one gallon of water per minute. However, it’s best to leave the pump size determination to a professional technician, as they can ensure your pump is providing your home with sufficient water, especially during peak usage hours.
Some states and municipalities restrict well pump repair and replacement to licensed plumbers and technicians, while others don’t have requirements. However, it’s always a good idea to hire a certified plumber to repair or replace well pumps and water pumps. Certified professionals are far more likely to get the job done correctly and prevent future issues, which is especially important for ensuring access to clean water for your home.
It’s possible to fix a broken well pump yourself, but we don’t recommend it. Well pumps are hard to reach and service without the proper equipment, and even if you can reach the pump, it involves working in close proximity to water and electricity, which can be extremely dangerous. Any mistakes made during the repair process could contaminate your water supply or put you and your home at risk. Additionally, some states require that a licensed plumber carry out well pump repair. It’s worth it to hire a professional water pump repair service.
The average cost to repair a well pump is $950, with most well pump repairs ranging between $100 and $2,900. A few factors influence your total repair cost, including the component of your well that needs repair or replacement, the extent of the damage, the accessibility of the pump, and the age and size of your well pump. It might be more cost-effective to replace your well pump if it’s old or has multiple broken components, as the average cost to replace a well pump is $1,800.
Most professional well and water pump technicians will take between two and four hours to replace an above-ground well pump, while a submersible well pump typically takes four to five hours to access and replace. You can also ask your well pump replacement technician how long they expect the process to take, as some jobs take just an hour or two. Keep in mind that you’ll be without access to water during the replacement process, so plan ahead by showering early and stocking up on bottled water for drinking and cooking.

From average costs to expert advice, get all the answers you need to get your job done.
Dry wells are handy for anyone who’s experiencing drainage problems. But dry well installation costs can vary depending on its size, location, and volume.
The four types of well pumps are submersible, jet, centrifugal, and hand pump. Choose the appropriate one based on the depth and size of your property’s well.
