"John was very easy to work with and communicated well. We wanted a particular cleaning products used and he used them.  It was easy to schedule the work and they came/left when they said that they would.   The decks were all painted with rollers and brushes.  The underside of the decks were sprayed - all techniques were done with care and everything was cleaned up when they left.  They protected everything that wasn't supposed to be painted.  We were happy with the entire process and it looks beautiful.  I would not hesitate to do business with them again.

"They painted my shutters and front door. Then I asked for a quote for interior painting. They did my entire upstairs and did so good I called them a third time for a quote to paint downstairs. Then I called a fourth time to paint a cathedral ceiling with the entire wall done in new shiplap! And they had to paint another entire room due to a bad leak. They’re precise, respectful and courteous, on time, and pretty fast. They’re forever my painters now. I’ve had several painters before finding Covenant Painting. My home is over 15 years old, I’m so thankful we found them!!! His prices are very affordable too. Thank you guys, for everything!!!"

"I would highly recommend this business.  We had them come and restain the deck and at first just powerwash the house.  They scheduled the work right away.  After doing the pressure washing, there were some areas with paint chips under the soffit.  Mike offered to repaint those for free.  During this, they noticed areas of the soffit that were rotten, so we had them repair those areas of the wood.  They also fixed a few screens that were damaged during the pressure washing for free.
Everything turned out great, and we are very happy we had this work done.  Mike and Crystal are very professional and easy to work with.  I will be having them do some more work on our house in the near future.

"Communication was excellent. Made recommendations about stain color that would work best with our house and exterior. Did many extras like edging our driveway before pressure washing it! Mike was awesome and we would definitely use his business again in the future! Great company and honest people! Everything looked wonderful and we had no complaints!

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Adding a second coat of stain to wood can even out the color to some extent, but it won't drastically alter the hue if the initial application is too light or too dark. It's more effective at enhancing the richness of the color rather than significantly changing it. Ensure the first coat is dry before applying the second.

Applying too much sealer to a deck might seem like extra protection, but it can cause more harm than good. Wood is a porous material with a limited capacity to absorb liquids. When you go overboard with sealer, the excess can't soak in and instead forms a film on the surface. This leftover layer is prone to peeling, cracking, and trapping moisture, ultimately defeating the purpose of sealing in the first place.

Whether to brush or roll stain on wood depends on the project and your preference. Brushing is ideal for smaller, intricate areas and offers more control over the application, ensuring thorough coverage and penetration into the wood's grain.

Conversely, rolling is efficient for more extensive, flat surfaces and can save time. However, it is not always the best fit for textured or uneven wood. Some projects may benefit from combining both methods, using a brush for detail work and a roller for broader areas. Ultimately, the choice between brushing and rolling depends on the specific requirements of your staining project.

A properly applied coat of stain will last between 3 and 8 years, depending on your climate. If you live in a place where your fence experiences a lot of moisture or high heat, your stain will last for a shorter period than in more temperate conditions. We recommend reapplying stain every 3 to 5 years to keep your wood in good condition.

Whether you can paint over your existing paint depends on what’s on there. Most of the time, you’ll want to sand down or scrape off the paint that’s currently coating your surface. Epoxy paint, for example, won’t let new paint stick to the surface. Latex paint is more forgiving and will accept a new coat, but a primer is recommended if you’re switching colors.
