"Daniel and his team are professional and prompt. They did a great job and cleaned up and left everything better than they found it. They stained my deck and replaced one of the warped boards with a new board. They did a great job! Would definitely hire them again without hesitation!!"

Customers say: True professional

"Jordan and his crew, from the original quote to clean up, were top-notch. Whether it was him, Donnie or John, I could count on them being ready to work exactly when they promised, and the quality of the work never waivered. All three were courteous, helpful and efficient, and their work was fantastic! I would recommend Perfection Painting for any job, large or small."

"This was the second time we have used John's Custom House Painting for a painting project and the second time we were very pleased with John's work. He arrived at his stated time and did an excellent job painting our ceiling. The ceiling is 9 1/2 feet high and is covered in 1 foot square celotex instead of sheetrock which means lots of grooves and edges to paint. There was one large and a smaller water stain from leaks in the roofing. John was able to completely cover these and the ceiling looks great! John was very careful to cover the floor and furniture and did not get paint on anything. I appreciate his talent and professionalism. Would hire him again for more painting projects in the future.

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Yes, pressure-treated wood can occasionally turn green due to certain preservatives, such as copper-based chemicals, used during the treatment process. These chemicals react with the wood, creating a greenish tint. The good news? It's temporary, and the color will fade over time. Staining or painting can also help hide any unwanted hues.

No, it is not okay to paint over rotted wood. Painting over rotted wood will not address the underlying issue and can trap moisture, leading to further decay. Properly addressing the rotted wood by removing and replacing or repairing the damaged areas is necessary before you can even consider painting.

It’s best to prime composite decking before painting. This promotes better paint adhesion, helps create a smooth finish, and can mean the paint job will last longer. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for application, allow ample primer drying time before painting (typically 24 to 48 hours), and thoroughly clean the deck boards to promote the best adhesion.

You’ll need to wait until the surface is completely dry, which can take anywhere from 24 to 48 hours under optimal conditions. The waiting period depends on several factors, including the type of siding and the weather conditions. Trying to paint before the surface is completely dry can trap moisture under the paint, leading to bubbling, blistering, and mold growth.

Ideally, it's best to stain your dock once per year. Applying stain doesn't just keep it looking nice and new; it also helps extend the dock’s lifespan. Since you want to ensure water levels are at their lowest, it's best to have this project done by a professional dock repair service in the cooler autumn or early winter months.
