"Interviewed three companies. I picked Footprints because of their salesman and pricing. I was very happy with his knowledge. Wade actually did the tile work and I was very happy with his work. He made suggestions that worked very well. I would go with them again and may even have the wood floors refinished by them."

"I was looking for laminate flooring. We ended up buying luxury vinyl flooring. It was suppose to have a limited life time coverage. In less than a week the flooring was scratched from my husband sitting at his desk. They would not replace the flooring. They did not have the correct trim. They were supposed to leave the overage which they did not. Very unhappy with them."

"Fantastic. The whole process is made simple by the professionalism of Noel in the Sales office, and Donnie in the fabrication facility. The Donnie's many years of experience with stone shows through in the final product. Extremely satisfied from start to finish. These folks care about making sure the customer is beyond pleased at the end of the day. This is our second project with Queen City Kitchens, and if I can find any other places to add stone, I will only go here. Excellent service. Great people. Folks you can trust."

"Fantastic. After almost ten years of wear and tear, spills and stains, my kitchen and bathroom floors looked horrible. No amount of cleaning made them look any better. After having Sir Grout come out, they look new again! Wonderful, professional. pleasant guys to work with. Did the job timely and I am very satisfied. Recommend them highly, and will call them again."

"Franco clearly has been doing this a long time, as he knows how important communication is between the provider of the service and the customer. He arrived within the time range he stated to take measurements and provide a list of supplies that I would need to purchase (i.e., 35 ft. of tile within certain size range, 1 - 32" threshold,1 bag of Thinset, 1 small bag of grout, 1 jumbo wax ring with bolts and 1 water supply line for the toilet). He thought that concrete was probably under my existing tile, since he had worked on a similar older home with plaster walls. After I selected my tiles and purchased my supplies, I called him to set up an appointment to do the work. I was pleasantly surprised that he was willing to start the work on that Sunday, which prevented me from having to be home during the week. He placed drop cloths from the entry way to the bathroom to protect my oak floors. He handled the challenge of a very rusty toilet base screw that was not turning even when WD-40 was applied well.  He made a run to Lowe's to purchase a tool to cut the screw, so he could remove the toilet. He was correct about concrete being under the tiles, which saved me from having to purchase cement board and nails. He removed the old tiles being careful not to let the shards damage a refinished tub. I had an extra drop cloth we placed over the tub side. The concrete under the old tiles was uneven as can be expected in a 1945 year old house, but the tiles were laid level nonetheless with 1/8" grout lines. The tiled floor was laid in a clean straight pattern. He cut the tiles to go around a 3 ft. x 2 ft. vanity cabinet. And, cut a few notches out of the stone threshold, so it would fit nicely in the space. When he came back to grout the tiles and re-install the toilet, he was very aware if his shoes were dirty and insisted upon first washing them before coming into my house. The bathroom tile floor looks beautiful, blending the color of the existing shower tile with the wood floors in the hall. Franco is an experienced professional when it comes to tile installation. He is also friendly, respectful, reliable with high integrity. I definitely will hire him again for any tile or stone installation for kitchens, bathrooms or porches.

"

picked out the flooring at the show room. I had the approximate measurements with me and was told it would be about $6800.00 for the first floor of my townhouse, including two bathrooms and a third bathroom on the second floor.

The sales person (Tim) came out when stated and was on time. He suggested that I do the floor in the master closet instead of leaving the old carpet (which turned out to be the right decision). He also suggested doing the half bath in the same flooring as the kitchen,as well as the two closets in the kitchen, dining and living room for one seamless look . He took all the measurements and got back to me within two days with a quote, which was the same as was quoted in the showroom.

The installers arrived on time and started work right away. The removed all the furniture in the dinning room and living room, moved the washer and dryer, refrigerator and stove . The first day they did all but the master bathroom and bedroom. There was a misunderstanding of what flooring was to be used on the first floor master bathroom which was quickly resolved and the tile was laid. It took two days to complete the work (as promised).

They replaced all my furniture and left my home just perfect.

Their work was done on time and I was always kept up to date on what was being done, They had to make a third trip back to finish the second floor bath, because of the mix up as to what I wanted on the master bath floor.

I would highly recommend this company for the professional and respectful way I was treated and the quality of the product and the workmanship. I was pleased with their recommendations and that I did not have to move any furniture or appliances. My home now looks bigger, brighter and I am very pleased with the finished work.

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Silicone caulk shouldn’t be used in place of grout because each material serves its own purpose. Thanks to its flexibility, silicone caulk is good for sealing around the perimeter of tiled floors, where movement and expansion might occur. However, grout is more durable, making it a better option for the joints in between tiles, which need to withstand constant weight and foot traffic.

No, you don’t need to remove the old grout before installing new tile over existing tile. In fact, the old grout helps fill in gaps between tiles, creating a more even surface for the new layer. However, it's important to ensure that the grout is clean, solid, and free of cracks or crumbling areas. Damaged grout should be repaired or replaced before proceeding. Cleaning the surface thoroughly and filling any low spots will help the new adhesive bond properly and ensure a smooth, stable installation.

For best results, you should remove the toilet in a bathroom before removing tile or installing new tile. If you don’t remove the toilet, it will be harder to fully waterproof the tile around the toilet, which could increase the risk of mold growth or plumbing leaks. If you have trouble removing the toilet, hire a plumber to help.

Porcelain is a relatively affordable, mid-range countertop material. It typically costs between $50 to $70 per square foot.

Compared to quartz, porcelain is slightly more affordable, as quartz generally ranges from $50 to $200 per square foot. However, lower-quality, builder's grade quartz can be similar in price to porcelain.

Compared to granite, the price can be similar, depending on the quality of the stone. While granite slabs can range from $50 to $200 per square foot, you can find lower-end granite in the same price range as porcelain. High-end granites will cost significantly more.

Porcelain is generally more expensive than laminate, acrylic, and ceramic, but less expensive than high-end slate, concrete, and marble. A key benefit is that porcelain does not require sealing, which reduces long-term maintenance costs.

The cost depends on the type of natural stone. High-end stones can cost as much as porcelain, but it depends on the specific material. For example, the cost of flagstone pavers is typically $2 to $6 per square foot, which is much more budget-friendly than porcelain. Outdoor slate tile can cost as much as $35 per square foot, which is about the same as porcelain.
