"Henry repaired both corners on both sets of stairs on my property he made it match the original design and also fixed the bottom of the steps. He fixed my landing making it more comfortable to get in and out of my home and also painted the entire steps after pressure washing everything. He went above and beyond and kept me updated along the way. He was kind and professional."

"I recently hired Arch Masonry to repoint my chimney, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Derek was very professional, prompt, and thorough from start to finish. He communicated and explained every step of the process clearly. It's rare to find such high attention to detail, great craftsmanship, and commitment to customer satisfaction all in one."

"I had a wonderful experience with Tom Ricci, owner of American Building Co, whom I found through Angie’s List. He responded to my request for a mason right away, arrived exactly when we had agreed, and clearly explained the work that needed to be done. He sent me a detailed quote that same evening and completed the job effortlessly. His craftsmanship was truly impressive, and the finished result—repairs to my front steps—was impeccable. Tom is also incredibly versatile in his knowledge; he’s a true jack of all trades. I highly recommend him!"

"New England Foundation Crack Repair responded very quickly to my call. Will came out to look at the project and explained thoroughly what needed to be done. On the day of the scheduled work, Tony and Ian arrived to take on the project. Both of these gentlemen were knowledgeable, competent and courteous professionals. Upon completion of their work, the outside grass and stone area looked like it had been undisturbed and the interior basement area was spotless. Tony and Ian are a definite asset to this company and I would highly recommend New England Foundation Crack Repair."

"Can’t say enough good things about 2DD Construction, highly recommend and will hire them again in the future - Eladio and his team redid a retaining wall - which was a big, big job- I had different/other contractors come see the wall but Eladio was responsive, straight forward, knowledgeable, and didn’t just offer patch work or workarounds. Throughout the project they were on schedule, professional, honest and did an excellent job. Mr. Eladio and his team did the work exactly as described, I would highly recommend and plan on working with them in the future."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Stone veneer siding is approximately four times less expensive than stone because it's made of concrete and aggregates instead of natural stone. But veneer looks like real stone, is easier to install, and acts as a great, durable siding option.

The best way to clean creosote from brick is to hire a professional chimney sweep. However, you can use a creosote log to remove excess buildup between cleanings. You can also clean minor creosote buildup using dish soap or vinegar mixed with water.

Europe is a continent made of many individual countries with a history of city life. In these cities, dirt roads were unsanitary and often shifted. The Ancient Romans started laying cobblestone streets in the 3rd century, which became an iconic feature of European cities. The durable and practical paving material proved to be extremely weather-resistant.

No, using a power sander on brick is not recommended because the force of the sander can destroy brick's fragile outer layer. Even using sandpaper on brick is discouraged because of the damage its abrasiveness can cause.

Yes, but used or reclaimed bricks can be more brittle, cracked, or uneven than new bricks, so they’re harder to cut cleanly by hand. For that reason, you should take extra care when scoring and striking, and expect a higher chance of breakage. If a brick feels especially fragile, score deeper before attempting to split it.
