"They did an excellent and thorough job. It was done last fall and I will be hiring them again this coming Spring so that they can seal what they installed as well as seal the pre-existing part of our asphalt driveway."

"They were in the neighborhood doing another job and told me they could pave the gravel driveway at one of my rental properties. I had gotten prices a few years ago, and even given the time difference, they beat the price by almost $1,000. They did a good job prepping the area and put in an asphalt driveway the same day."

Customers say: True professional

"Lou and his crew were great. Knowledgeable, easy to work with and quality. Lou came out measured everything up and gave me a quote over the phone later that day. Got me in the schedule and we coordinated around his other projects. Removed old asphalt driveway and installed new concrete slab in 3 days. Would hire Goodfellas again and recommend."

Customers say: Super punctual

"Excellent job. Rick & Son and two employees replaced a sagging driveway retaining wall with 6 x 8 treated timbers. They arrived on time the morning of July 26. The wall was replaced, the plants behind the wall were preserved, the wall looks good and strong, and clean up was complete. A job very done well, timely and professionally."

"Ben and his crews are absolutely fantastic!!! Always on time, phenomenal work - fair pricing and always on top of things. Twice, because of weather restrictions during the week, they actually came and took care of my yard on Holidays (Mother’s Day & Easter). The landscaping they do is always first rate and they never cut corners…..6 Stars…if that’s an actual rating. Hire Them!!!!!"

"John Sr. met with us on a Friday. He gave us information on a Sherwin Williams product that is a painted stain. There was a huge selection of colors and we picked one to match. He gave us an estimate on the painting project and a driveway sealant project. The estimate was an extremely good deal for the work. We called a few hours later to confirm we wanted them to do the work. John and his son Johnny came on Tuesday. His son was just as polite and courteous as his Dad. The job was finished in one day. Their work was very professional and they made sure we were completely satisfied. We are very pleased with both the shed and the driveway. We would highly recommend this company."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

When hiring pros for asphalt paving in Washington, prioritize those with proven experience in PA's freeze-thaw climate and expertise in drainage solutions for hilly terrain. Confirm they have equipment suitable for properties with limited access. Ask for local references from Washington County who can speak to their work, and ensure you understand the warranty terms, especially regarding weather-related issues.

Helpful?

For an asphalt paving project in Washington, PA, key details include your property's grade and the local clay-heavy soil, which dictate drainage needs. The hilly topography requires careful slope management for water runoff. Additionally, consider narrow access points for equipment, the location of underground utilities, and specific township setback requirements. Sun exposure also affects how the surface endures freeze-thaw cycles.

Helpful?

In Washington, new asphalt paving starts with grading and drainage planning to handle local weather. Within five years, homeowners should consider sealcoating and addressing small cracks caused by freeze-thaw cycles. Over the next decade, routine maintenance like pothole repair and periodic resurfacing becomes important. After about 25 years, many homeowners evaluate full replacement, factoring in updated drainage needs and changes in local paving standards.

Helpful?

Your Washington home is well-suited for asphalt paving if the property has stable soil, avoids areas with frequent water pooling, and features driveways with enough space for paving equipment—typically found in local suburban layouts. If your property has an existing gravel or deteriorated asphalt surface, or you’re looking to improve curb appeal and stormwater management, asphalt resurfacing or new driveway installation can be a strong upgrade.

Helpful?

To protect your investment in Pennsylvania's climate, asphalt paving requires consistent maintenance. This includes applying a sealcoat every two to three years and filling any cracks before winter to prevent freeze-thaw damage. After winter, inspect for and repair any potholes. Regular edge maintenance is also important due to the area's clay soils, along with keeping drainage systems clear of debris.
