"Fantastic company to work with. I needed some new siding and had been taking many quotes. New Look had the best combination of choice and materials. My wife and I ordered siding with insulation and, even though the timeline was tight, New Look said they'd try to get it installed before the winter. In Mid December, the siding and material arrived. They started tearing the old siding off the house on Monday morning and had framed my doors and windows, repaired some walls that needed work, and finished installing the siding by the end of Wednesday. New Look did a ton of work in a 3 day timespan."

"The contracted the work off to a third party. Jon took longer than expected. The windows was installed pretty good from the looks. Communication could have been better with knowing the job will take longer and what types of trims I wanted for the windows. As the contractor that was hired for this job by this company. Did a good job with putting up decent trim. As for the new windows they look great. I purchased the myself and hired sentri homes to install them. I will need to have a my siding on my house redone to be closer to the new windows so the gaps are not so obvious. That was not expected at first. But from old storm windows and not knowing how they were put in originally. There was some unknown things that was learned from the job being completed. I will have the siding of the house slightly done to match really good for what I wanted later on. My only concern is better communication with sentri homes. Overall they were great when I did talk to them."

"Gotcha Covered did an excellent job completing our roof and gutter project. Our roof had been damaged by wind and hail, and Ian James helped us to navigate the entire process from filing the insurance claim to the completed project. Ian was informative, helpful, kind, and ensured that the job was completed in a timely manner. The project, manager, Danny, even came back after the job was done and tacked a piece of siding that was loose. It was no where near the roof and was not part of the original project. He just offered to fix it because it needed done. That is customer service! The job was completed in an efficient manner, and the clean up was excellent as well. They even worked extra hard to not damage our trees, shrubs, and many flowers!"

"I searched through Angie's List and found 5 "A" list contractors in my area. Of these, I received 3 priced proposals. I selected B Guyaux Roofing for their time in business (26 years), their workmanship warrantee (5 years), the product line they handle (Owens-Corning), the manufacturer's warrantee (lifetime), and a competitive price. I also got the impression of great competence and professionalism from Guyaux during the interview. It took a few weeks to get on Guyaux's schedule and there was some minor starting delay due to rain (it is Pittsburgh, after all), but once Guyaux set a start date, they actually started a day early. The job was forecast to need 3 full days, and that is exactly the time it took. The work crew appeared every morning at 7:00 am on the dot and worked continuously until 2:30 pm every day, except for a short break for lunch. The period 2:30 to 3:00 pm was used for job site cleanup, every day! The site was never abandoned while the job was underway. Guyaux supplied all new materials, all as per the job plan. They stripped the old roofing down to the decking, gathered up all the old materials and hauled them away. There was damage found to two deck sheets, which were removed and replaced for a trivial cost over the original price (I liked the fact that a forecast of damage-expected was not included in the original cost, which would just inflate the cost if no damage was actually found). I found that the new roofing materials are much better today than they were the last time we replaced the roof (35 years ago). For instance, roofers don't use tar paper anymore, instead, they use a fiberglass film that is much tougher, is waterproof, and doesn't degrade in the sun. As well, they use an ice blocker today which wasn't available back when. Also, the shingles are heavy duty fiberglass with less bitumastic (so you don't have tar bleeding out of the shingles in the summer), plus they are treated for mold prevention. In addition, the shingles are guaranteed to withstand 110 mph wind, which should be good in Pittsburgh. At the end of the job, Guyaux walked me around the house, pointing out what was done and how it was done, made sure I was happy with the finished job, accepted payment (note - no 1/3 upfront), did final cleanup of the site, and left me with a brand new roof. Yes, I would hire Guyaux roofing again, and I would recommend them to my friends."

"Phil is open to suggestions and ideas that the customer has and executes it beautifully and in a timely manner. We wanted the yard fenced in, but still wanted to see the wooded area and not feel 'boxed' in. We went with Pickets on the two sides for privacy and a California style fence-chain link bordered with wooden planks. In doing so, this opened up the landscape and are able to see in and past the yard. Phil did an awesome job! we have so many compliments from people in the surrounding area and has been in contact further asking if anything additional is needed. his prices a re reasonable, he puts in the work, very honest and will let you know if there is a better option for the longevity on the finished project. I can't speak highly enough of him and really has been a great contact to have with general contracting as well."

Siding questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can install siding over stucco, but it's crucial to ensure the stucco is in good condition first. Before proceeding, inspect the stucco for any signs of damage, leaks, or mold growth. If you discover water damage, mold, or have ongoing leak issues, it's recommended to remove the stucco completely. This step prevents future problems like mold and pest infestations and allows a professional to repair or replace any damaged sheathing underneath. If the stucco is sound, the installation process involves attaching furring strips to the wall's framing directly through the stucco. The new siding is then installed onto these furring strips. A professional may also need to adjust window and door openings to prevent them from being recessed behind the new siding, which can cause aesthetic issues and create potential leak points.

The cost to install or replace brick or stone siding generally ranges from $10 to $50 per square foot. The final price depends on several factors, including the specific material type, local labor rates, and any necessary preparation work, such as removing old siding. For example, different types of stone have varying costs per square foot: natural stone ($4.50–$35), stone veneer ($11–$13), faux stone ($6–$9), and cultured or manufactured stone ($5–$8).

When moisture infiltrates your siding, it can result in deterioration and decay of the sheathing, cause structural damage to your foundation, and provides an ideal breeding ground for mold. Mold growth can lead to various health-related problems, such as itchy eyes, sneezing, allergies, and asthma. Mold and dampness commonly attract a wide range of insects, so if your siding has taken any kind of water damage, it could invite some unwelcome guests.

Siding colors that go well with a green roof include off-red, beige, white, gray, brown, and even another green. Don’t be afraid to get creative with your green roof. This roof color has character, and playing with your color palette can really add to the natural charm of the house.

Steel and aluminum are two types of metal siding that are commonly used for residential and commercial buildings, but the materials have specific differences. Typically, steel is heavier and sturdier, fending off scratches and dents, while aluminum is lightweight and more prone to damage. Cost is another differentiating factor, as steel is more expensive than aluminum siding cost.
