"Tim Stone was professional from minute one. There's always a rush from tree companies to just "cut 'er down" but Tim took the time to examine each tree we were concerned about and strategically found a solution to make them sound. A true arborist."

"We were extremely pleased with the fair price for the service we needed. We had 2 dead trees plus a large branch removed from the back of our property. They did exactly what was needed very efficiently. We had fence posts right under the trees for fence replacement. Not one of them was damaged. They also came to do the work about 3 days after the quote, Out of 4 estimates, they were the best. We would definitely recommend this company and would use them again."

"Alex came out yesterday to survey the projects we had in mind and made helpful suggestions. Everything we discussed—trees and bushes trimmed, big limbs, numerous trees with hanging broken branches made safe, 2 tall trees topped, and brush cleared from near the foundation—was completed by his team today. Very satisfied and grateful for all their work."

"We needed a fairly large tree removed in our backyard and reached out to GF trees service and spoke to Benji. He made it a priority to answer all questions we had and come out the same day to give us a price quote. We hired Benji and his team that day, the very next day he came out and within a few hours the tree was removed and yard was cleaned up from all debris. Excellent customer service and work performed. I would recommend GF trees service to anyone needing tree removal services."

"I have struggled with landscapers in the past as once the sale is made, there is minimal attention . PN was a pleasant surprise. John (owner) was involved from start to finish including several visits during the job. He has also been attentive to several small follow-ups. The landscaping work is very professional and attractive . My property required a fairly complex irrigation system solution. PN did an excellent job of addressing all challenges. Would hire again!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

A chainsaw is the best tool to cut down a tree, but you may also use a handsaw or ax. You may also want to use a lopper or pole saw to remove limbs before cutting down the tree. Wear chainsaw chaps and protective gear, including eyewear and earplugs if you use a chainsaw. Again, if you’re unsure about how to use this tool, this project may be one to skip.

Dead trees are dangerous for several reasons. They are structurally compromised and prone to branch or trunk failure, which can pose a significant safety risk to people, vehicles, and nearby structures. Dead trees can also harbor pests like termites, which may spread to other trees or your home. If a tree died from a disease, it could spread the illness to healthy trees. Additionally, the dry wood is highly flammable, increasing fire risk.

While trees can grow in the curb strip between the sidewalk and the street, this placement often poses the problem of interfering with overhead power lines. It’s best to consult your local utility provider and tree planting service before transplanting a tree that might grow into power lines. Also, you should never work within 20 feet of a live power line to avoid the risk of electric shock. Tree branches should never touch nearby power lines, so it’s essential to ensure your tree isn’t in danger of growing too close to them.

Aim to have your trees inspected and pruned in early spring. At this point in the year, tree service professionals can note where there is old growth from winter and cut that back to encourage new growth for the rest of the year. Pruning at the wrong time of the year could make your trees prone to diseases.

Most tree removals take 3-8 hours, requiring additional time for stump grinding or debris hauling.
