"We used Tim to routinely prune our Bradford Pear tree which is cabled and has been well taken care of for thirty-five years. The cost of removing the tree would have been thousands of dollars, so we kept having Tim come out to take care of it. We ended up going with another arborist who was able to prune the tree for $500 when Tim had quoted us $800 for the same job. Tim is truly an arborist who does an excellent job of shaping and pruning trees who is considered a specialist. He is wonderful and was always on site himself to start and finish the job doing a great job of cleaning up."

"The crew that removed my old 60 foot high tree carefully took it down with precision and care, the tree what chipped on site and the crew cleaned up so nicely, the experience was a pleasure from the beginning until completed. This company was so professional and friendly, they explained everything. My wife is so happy how clean they left the yard.. we got two thee estimates and these guys beat both of the other quotes. Could not have asked for more. Thanks, Guys!"

"We needed a fairly large tree removed in our backyard and reached out to GF trees service and spoke to Benji. He made it a priority to answer all questions we had and come out the same day to give us a price quote. We hired Benji and his team that day, the very next day he came out and within a few hours the tree was removed and yard was cleaned up from all debris. Excellent customer service and work performed. I would recommend GF trees service to anyone needing tree removal services."

"John of Plymouth Nursery and Landscaping and his staff were wonderful. They did a terrific job cleaning up my property and planting all new beautiful shrubs and plants. Also installed a system to help with my water problem. My property was in desperate need of a face lift and John and his crew came through. I would recommend Plymouth Nursery and Landscaping!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

You can find pruning paints and sealants for trees, but you shouldn’t use them on a topped tree. Coatings like these often inhibit the tree’s healing process. An important exception is if there are dangerous fungi nearby that the tree is particularly vulnerable to, like oaks and oak wilt. Sealing cuts can help prevent fungi from taking root.

Dead tree branches should be removed, because they can cause the tree to lose nutrients. They can also make the tree more susceptible to disease and pests. Removing dead and diseased branches can help the tree recover and increase the odds of saving a dying tree. Make sure to prune the tree correctly to avoid damaging it further.

Finding a reliable arborist starts with researching specialists in your area and checking their licensing and certifications. Use online resources like the Better Business Bureau (BBB) to conduct research on each company. Next, contact the arborist and ask the following questions to see whether they are the right fit for your project:

  • Do you handle or specialize in dealing with the issue I’m having?

  • Are you fully insured?

  • Do you have customer references I can call?

  • Do you have any third-party certifications?

  • What equipment and strategies do you plan to use?

Grinding down a tree helps reduce the risk of foundation damage and pests and even helps your home’s curb appeal. Stumps can also be a safety hazard. If grass grows above the stump and someone else mows your yard, they may be in for a rude awakening when they accidentally hit it.

How often and long you should water a tree depends on the species and if it is mature or newly planted. The amount of water is also based on the tree's size. A good rule of thumb is approximately 5 gallons per inch of the trunk's diameter.

Adjusting watering to the recommended suggestions for the tree type and weather conditions is vital. For instance, watering trees during a drought is necessary, and you may need to water more frequently than usual.
