He provided a very detailed estimate so I knew exactly what he was going to do and the materials he would use. He kept me informed of the timeline for getting supplies and when he would be able to start. He started exactly when he said he would and completed the work with no delays. I would definitely hire him again; in fact he will come back in the spring to stain the siding because it got too cold to do it this Fall."

There are a variety of second-story deck privacy ideas depending on your budget and aesthetic. Pickets should sit at least 2 inches off the ground to encourage groundwater to flow underneath. Pickets can sit as much as 6 inches off the ground, but setting it any higher could let pets in or out of your yard unintentionally. These are not to be confused with the fence posts anchored underground with soil or concrete footing.

Ideally, when you replace a fence post, you should also replace the concrete footing. The concrete bonds to your new post, creating a secure base. If you install a new post into old concrete, it won’t be as sturdy.

That said, it is possible. Sometimes the post will lift right out of the concrete. If not, you can use a high-lift car jack to try and lift the pole out of the footing. Put the new post into the same hole and backfill it with fast-setting concrete. Keep in mind, this won’t work well for metal posts.
