"Excellent customer service from proposal to completion. Workmanship was excellent, the installation crew arrived on time. They went about their work in a methodical manner, the team experience showed, each worker knew what had to be done at any particular time. The installers were clean and respectful of the house and furnishings. They worked under some challenging weather conditions but that did not effect the quality of their work. The finished product proved to be more effective than I expected. The furnace runs less - energy saving, the house is much warmer and the special areas that I was concerned about were remedied. The installers went beyond the original scope of work, at my request, they insulated some additional areas that were causing some discomfort. This step made the kitchen much more habitable. Over all I was pleased with; the company, staff and installers. Every one that I interfaced with were professional, courteous and accommodating. The process was easy to do; one phone call and the estimator arrived, he did his work and by the end of the day I had a proposal, another phone call and I was on the schedule. My project was scheduled within two weeks. The installation took two days, I had an invoice by the end of the second day. One more phone call and the billing was completed "'Seamless". This company is "Easy to do business with""

"Bob and his team were great. Bob gave honest advice on the best option to insulate my attic and crawl spaces. The main issue we had was our infants bedroom which had brick walls and 2 windows making it very drafty. While the insulation made a noticeable difference overall, our sons room was still a bit drafty which we expected due to the brick outer walls. Still worth every penny."

"The job was extremely difficult due to three different layers of insulation in my attic including blown in insulation. They suggested I go with the foam. I requested they not spend to much time cleaning up because I wanted to clean the entire garage."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Garden blankets and frost cloths are the best things to use to protect trees and plants from frost. They are made from polypropylene fabric, which is lightweight, breathable, and dries fast. If you can’t get garden blankets or frost cloths before the freeze, you should use lightweight blankets, sheets, or towels.

The primary downside of radiant barriers is their limited effectiveness in cold climates. They are designed to reflect radiant heat, making them less beneficial in cooler conditions where heat retention is more important.

Radiant barriers require proper installation to maximize effectiveness. Incorrect placement can lead to minimal benefits. They also do not provide insulation, meaning they should be used in conjunction with traditional insulation for optimal energy efficiency.

The most affordable way to insulate a garage involves choosing cost-effective materials like fiberglass, which comes in batts or rolls and is relatively easy to install. You can often install this type of insulation without needing to add drywall, which helps reduce costs. While a DIY approach might seem cheapest, hiring a professional installer can be highly cost-effective. Experts can accurately determine your garage's specific insulation needs and ensure the best results for your investment, often using batt insulation for the bulk of the project.

The average cost to install insulation is around $1,800, but you could pay anywhere between $500 and $4,500, depending on various factors. Some of the things that have a significant influence on your pricing include the following:

  • Size of the area

  • Type and R-value of the insulation

  • Whether your space is finished or unfinished

  • Accessibility of the area

  • Your geographical location

  • Amount of site preparation, especially for blown-in insulation

  • Whether or not you need old insulation removed

Air duct insulation typically lasts for 10 to 15 years or even longer, depending on the material and maintenance. It's important to conduct periodic inspections to check for signs of deterioration, such as water damage, tears, or general wear. If you find any of these issues, it may be time for repairs or a full replacement. You might also consider upgrading your insulation even if it's in good shape to improve your home's energy efficiency and enhance your HVAC system's performance with newer, more effective materials.
