His bid came in some $5,000 less than competitors, partly because as he convincingly showed me, other insulators are typically spraying far more than needed. I also did not want to spray directly on our 1880s-era wood siding or sheathing as spray foam is notorious for trapping moisture and leading to rot in wood. But he figured out a solution to create a 1-inch air gap behind the spray foam to allow that wood siding to dry out when moist. He also knew other insulation options and really with that above solution, I think we ended up with the best possible insulation for our historic house. "Bob and his team were great. Bob gave honest advice on the best option to insulate my attic and crawl spaces. The main issue we had was our infants bedroom which had brick walls and 2 windows making it very drafty. While the insulation made a noticeable difference overall, our sons room was still a bit drafty which we expected due to the brick outer walls. Still worth every penny."
